Two weeks ago, I threw a STAR WARS JEDI TRAINING DAY birthday party for my 10 year old son. I used our garage as the main party area and decorated it with glow in the dark stars (3
pkgs.), about 100 hand made silver stars i hung from the ceiling, 2 Star Wars space ships I got off ebay (Hung those too), black and silver balloons, black lighting, and Star Wars sound track
playing as the children entered the party.
On the front of the garage I made a banner that said Happy Birthday Chosen One and Welcome to Jedi Training Academy. The arrows that pointed to the side entrance of the garage were hand made light sabers pointing the way. One the door as you entered was 1 of 4 S.W. posters I purchased at Wallmart. Upon entering the garage you felt transported to space and received a "uniform and weapon" The uniform was brown vests I made from material I purchased for $1.00 per yd. at Wallmat and cream color material for a sash. No sewing, just cut a V for the neck, and strips of cream color the the belt. I made Light Sabers out of foam pipe insulation and wrapped them in blue and green painters tape and wrapped the last 6 inches in duct tape for the handle. I also made some character masks from a S.W. web site for them to use later and take home. My husband and I got in "Uniform" too! Their were 14 boys suited for training. We played "Space Ship Landing Practice" by seeing who could land a frisbee into one of 5 hoola hoops I placed in the yard. "Light Saber Agility" was done by pairing boys and then having each team see who could keep the (red) balloon up in the air, not useing their hands, the longest. The last game we played was "Droid Debri" My husband and put Star Wars skittles, M&M's, and 3 Musk. wrapped in foil and hid them all over like an Easter Egg Hunt. Who ever found the most received a prize, but all "Debri" was split evenly afterwards. The other thing I did to keep them busy while in between events was having them play with helium filled Hoover Crafts. They float gently so its a great idea for inside. Zaks' cake was the lava sene in the last movie done with red velvet cake, dark choc. frosting on upsidedown sugar cones for mountains, red iceing and fruit roll ups for lava. I put Obi-won and Aniken action figures (which Zak got to keep) dueling on the cake and his candels were lit on the lava flow. After the games the boys LOVED playing with their light sabers and I also had rented Star Wars PS2 games and S.W. movies, both going in different rooms. When the boys were leaving, they all thanked me for the best party they've ever been to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "That was insane Mrs. Foster"
