My son wanted a Star Wars III themed party for his 6th birthday! We had a blast; here's what we did.
For invitations: I took a picture of him holding his light saber (available at Target, most toys stores) and made that the front of the card. At the top above the picture, was CALLING ALL JEDI KNIGHTS AND PRINCESSES...YOU ARE INVITED! Inside the card read all the necessary time/date/place info. For the party: I purchased Star Wars III pinata, plates, napkins, tablecloth, cups and favor bags online which was super easy and best considering our party store didn't have the new Star Wars merchandise yet! I filled the goody bags with Star Wars III stickers, Star Wars III rings, lolipops, space toys, etc. Costumes: We had 6 kids so I purchased 3 yards earthtone cotton fabric and cut each yard in half. Then cut a slit down the front. Walmart had Star Wars III fabric so I cut strips of 6" by 54" and folded them in half, sewed them and these were the belts. I bought 3 pool noodles in colors of green and blue and cut them in half. I wrapped duct tape around the end of each to be the handle. The kids LOVED these!!!!!!!! We had one princess so she had extra gold netting over her Jedi wear. Games: Indoor we played PIN THE LIGHTSABER and BEAN BAG TOSS AT DARTH games. The first game I bought on ebay which was really unusual. The second I printed out a picture of Darth from the internet and taped it to a big piece of black posterboard. Then I taped this to a box and cut a hole out of the center. I made 6 bean bags out of the Star Wars III fabric and the kids took turns throwing the bean bags "through" Darth! Outside we played various Jedi training games such as the following: Walk the wooden planks to save the Princess who was standing in a hula hoop. We rolled a huge ball at them as they tried to get to her which they hit with their light sabers. After each had tried their turn, all the boys got in the hula hoop and it was the Princess' turn to save them! They each received a plastic gold trophy (party store) with their name on it. The pinata was the kind with the pull the string and was great. They played Asteroid Hunt; I had wrapped water guns and candy in foil and scattered them everywhere in the yard. Another game was to stand in the hula hoop with the light saber and try to hit bubbles and I blew the big bubble gun their way. 2 by 2, they had to try to keep a balloon up with a light saber; this was tricky and made them slow down the pace!!! They went several times at that. Refreshments: I ordered a Star Wars III cake from the grocery store and it was ideal; had Yoda on it and was cheaper than making my own cake and buying the decoration. The kids had a blast in just a 2hour period. The present opening was last and we were worn out but it sure was a memorable time!!!
