For my sons 9th birthday party we had a Star Wars party.
The invitations had a space border on them and read: A long, long time ago (9 years to be exact), in a galaxy, far away (the state of TX to be exact) we were blessed by Ts birth. After all the party details, I wrote Optional: Come dressed as your favorite Star Wars character be it human, alien or droid. (All the boys came in costume). The invitations were addressed to Padawan (name). For decorations we used multi colored streamers that we strung across the room in straight lines. Where they met the walls, we made little explosions of the same color for our laser blasts. The cake was R2D2. I baked a 2 layer cake and a cake in a bowl. I stacked the 2 layer cake and then placed the bowl upside down on the layers. I covered it all with white icing. I then cut up blue fruit roll ups into rectangular shapes and stuck them onto the icing in the proper positions to make his face and head. I used black icing for highlighting and to make his camera eye on his head. For his probe, I iced 3 lifesavers together and had them sticking out. We put yellow fruit roll ups around the bottom to show he was in his pod. For games we had Jedi Training. We used traditional games with a twist. Our first game was variation of Pin the Tail on the donkey. We had a poster of the death star with tie fighters around it. The winner had to blast the death star. To test reflexes we played musical chairs and hot potato. Our hot potato was a ball covered in black felt and we called it our sith droid. To test their force level we purchased paper glasses that you could put a sticker on the front of. The person could not see this picture but had to use the force to determine which vehicle was on his glasses in the least amount of guesses (max. of 5.) We had target practice with a disk gun aimed at Star Wars action figures. For prizes, I had visited several dollar stores and found Star Wars character Koosh balls and some Star Wars glow in the dark stickers. Finally, we had a Death Star piņata. They were to use the force to see it while blindfolded. I purchased a soccer ball piņata and spray painted it gray Party favors were miniature light saber flashlights and bouncing rock balls "meteors."
