For my 7 year olds birthday he insisted on having a Star Wars birthday party. He had already been to 2 Star Wars parties just recently so I wanted to make this party different from the
previous ones. We started the party out by giving each of the kids "costumes". The costumes consisted of fabric purchased at a local fabric store which we drapped over the kids
shoulders and tied at the waist with some twine (rope works too). This was a big hit for the kids as they all felt they were true Jedi's. After giving them their costumes we then supplied
them with their first Mission which was to create a Swamp Area for Yoda. The kids were each given a plastic spoon, I set out a few jugs of water tinted green. Then a few feet away I placed a
table with bowls that had a line in them (made w/ a sharpie marker). The kids had to see which one could fill the SWAMP water up the quickest. This game was a big hit, and took a little bit
of time for them to complete. Their 2nd Mission was to locate the Droids from the Droid Drop, this game was basically a treasure hunt. I took pieces of tinfoil and filled them with stickers
(SW of course) and candy (Milky Ways & Starburst)and a SW bookmark (from the SW website) . I had these DROIDS scattered throughout our yard for each child to find. After this Mission was
complete the Jedi's took a break for some food. We had cake & ice cream along with pretzel light sabers & cheese ball astroids. The cake was a long light saber. Very simple to make, I
made 2 9x13 cakes and cut them lenthwise. I then placed them into a long line and frosted three of the pieces. For these 3 pieces we used vanilla frosting tinted w/ green (it was Yoda's
lightsaber), the final piece of cake was the handle and that was frosted w/ chocolate frosting. The cake was very cute and the kids loved it especially because of its lenght. The lightsaber
pretzels were long pretzel rods dipped in white chocolate and then rolled in green & red sprinkles (for Darth Vader & Yoda's lightsabers) another big hit with the kids. I also set out
a bowl with cheese balls in it and a sign that said "Astroids". The kids gobbled up the food it was a big hit! Their final Mission was to empty the spaceship which was the pinata. I
found a spaceship shaped pinata and the kids had a blast with that of course! Before leaving for home each child was given a badge (picked up from the local dollar store) and a certificate
showing that they were now True Jedi's. So in the end they all had a badge, certificate, candy from the pinata, bookmark, candy from the droid dropping and their costumes. For decorations we
used some purchased Star Wars themed items from our local Walmart and we also made a bunch of stars out of yellow poster board. Our party was outside so we hung the stars off the kids climber
in the back yard and from a tree in the yard.Everyone seemed to have a good time and my son said it was one of his best birthday parties ever!
