My son turned 7 and he requested Star Wars Episode II Party. We set up a Jedi trainning camp (since most of the Jedi were killed in this episode of course they had to recruit). It begun with each child as they entered the house receiving a "costume" which was a rectangular piece of material with a silt halfway up the middle. This was draped over their shoulders (the slit in the front)and with another piece of material it was tied around their waist. Walmart's Fabric $1 table was a great place to look for material. You will need about 1/2-2/3 yd per child. Just make sure the fabric will not fray. After that each child "made" their light saber. Using foam pipe insulation and colored duct tape, we wrapped each child a light saber. We made up stations outside for the kids. Station 1: Light Saber Practice- Using a bubble machine the kids practiced getting the bubbles. We placed ours on top of a ladder. Station 2: Made an obsacle course for the kids, utilizing hula hoops, boxes (as tunnels), chinese jumpropes attached to chair legs, etc. Station 3: Pin the light saber on the Jedi. Station 4: Long Jump. Station 5: Space Flight (see who could get a stomp rocket the farthest). Then we had cake & punch. Then it was time for an "Asteroid" Toss (waterballoon toss). Instead of a pinata we went on a search for droid debry (wrapped a bunch off googies in foil and scattered them about the yard sort of like an egg hunt. It was a great way to get rid of all those extra party favor that have been collecting for years. When party was over everyone received a certificate of completing their Jedi trainning and a goodie bag. Since the kids we able to keep everything, we just put some stickers and a snack in the goodie bags. It was quite the day, but well worth it.
