For my daughter's 1 year party we did a Strawberry Shortcake theme. We found free logos on the internet and printed invites and the shortcake web site had ecards that we used for some
invitation. We live in a small apartment so I reserved a pavillion at the local park for free. We didn't have to have games or craft activities because the kids couldn't wait to play at the
park. I got themed plates and plain red plates and alternated them (the plain ones were cheaper and made the theme plates go further)I did the same with Napkins and cups. I had the party at
10am because it was between her nap times. We had guest comming a ways so we did a Brunch party. I served Bagels (with Strawberry cream cheese), Cheese, Summer sausage and cracker trays,
Fruit trays, I made cookies to look like Stawberry Shortcake's hat, A plain sugar cookie with a mini muffin bottom on top, pour pink icing over them and decorated with a green icing bow and
red dots to look like stawberry's.
I found some Fabric in the theme and hot glued it into baskets with a flap that went back over the basket to keep things out of it since the party was outside, I put utensils and stawberry and white chocolate kisses in them. I bought one mylar balloon and tied it to her chair. I found graphics for free on the internet and made party hats that we tied with green yarn. I also found paper dolls you could print and color yourself on line for the goodie bags I printed boy paper dolls for the boys and stawberry shortcake for the girls. I included a sticker I printed, colors, stawberry fruit snacks, a book mark I printed all in a themed bag. She had a cake of her own but for the guest we did make your own stawberry shortcake. We had little cakes, a big bowl of stawberries, canned wipped cream and green and pink colored sugar sprinkles (that I made with food color and sugar) This was a big hit. At the park we put up poster signs that had a computer copy of stawberry shortcake in the middle and then told who's party it was around it. Also for food we had other brunch things like muffin loaf, donuts, Peanut butter and stawberry jelly roll (tortillas) and pink, red, and green punch drinks that I had made in advance and froze her party was in July and by the time everyone was ready for a drink they were thawed and chilled. We had Pink straws. We also had individual drinks that I had found on sale and stocked up for the kids. For her I made a plate before the party of things she could have and then just put it on her chair and didn't have to leave guest to cut and prepare her food. We did take her high chair to the park (Which I would recommend). I decorated the table with red table cloths I got for a $1, stawberry's from the craft section, and blow outs. We had a large age range at this party kids from 1 to 12 and then adults. All the kids had a blast, I did not have a dirty house to clean, everyone went home with a goody they could use on the road, and went home before nap time. We came home put her in bed an enjoyed the pictures. My only advice is to take plenty of wash cloths or wipes and extra clothes if you do the 1st cake thing we did and it was worth it.
