For my daughters 3rd birthday we gave her a Strawberry Shortcake party.  I made my own invites by using red cardstock and traced and cut out a strawberry shape then used green and did the same for the steam and then glued it to the strawberry, then used vellum and typed the information on it and placed it on top of the strawberry put two holes through both and placed a pink and white gingham ribbon through. Then I added black seeds which I cut out of black cardstock and glued them onto the strawberry. Then I purchased pink envolpes and addressed them on the computer using the same berry font that I used for the invites and used Strawberry SHortcake stickers (scented) to decorate them. I used a simmering pot to simmer some strawberry scented tarts and lit strawberry candels (but put up high) for that added touch. For games we played rotten strawberry (aka hot potato) , I used red,green and black flet cut it out to look like a strawberry and sewed it together leaving a small hole and then filled it with beans and then finished sewing it together.  I played SSC music while playing this game. Then I traced (using a projector or you could just download)a picture of SSC onto posterboard and copied several smaller strawberries, then numbered them and elaminated them and played pin the strawberry on SSC. I used lt. pink, green, dk.pink and red for most of the decorations with some of the SSC items they have out like, napkins, cups etc... I made a banner saying "Have a Berry Happy Birthday with the childs name"  And traced another SSC pics onto the banner paper.  For food we decided to use all of the charaters from SSC. We had a giant gingersnap cookie that I made and decorated with pink icing, I bought a SSC cake pan and baked a cake and decorated it, we made a angelfood cake with strawberry filling with cool-whip and strawberries on top, I made cup cakes with SSC pics in them, we had strawberry icecream, Strawberry punch and strawberry lemon-aid to drink. I painted terrcota pots red, painted black seeds on them, and used foam balls inside put some berry leaves in the balls and then made homemade suckers using red and pink JELL-O and cornsuryp, and stuck them in the balls, I then used some fake strawberries to fill in the holes. I bought treatbags in the shape of strawberries and filled them with SSC items and I made Strawberry suckers out of red and green chocolates.  For the kids table I had put some SSC coloring pages and crayons for them to do while we cut the cake, and they had hats, and thats where I had put the terracota pots.  On the food table I decorated a vase with strawberries and filled it with red and pink roses for the birthday girl. I bought a hellum tank and filled up my own SSC balloons, and red,pink,green balloons and placed them throughout the house and outside with the banner and streamers. When we were finished with all of the games, presents and cake we then put the SSC music on and danced.  My daughter and all of her friends and family had a blast. I had my sister take my daughter the night before that way when she arrived it would be a surprise for her.  And you should of see her when they pulled up! I got all of the supplies from my local craft store, and local discount store, and party store. I did it all on a small budget too!! :-)
