Strawberry Shortcake Tea Party 5Yr Old
We combined Strawberry Shortcake and Tea Party for my 5 year old. We sent Strawberry Shortcake party invitations, and used some Strawberry Shortcake Decorations (birthday banner, napkins and party blow outs). We started the party with decorating (with stamp pads and markers) a Happy Birthday sign for the Birthday girl, Strawberry Shortcake tatoos and the girls picked out a small bunch of flowers and ribbon, which I hot glued onto a straw, wide brim hat from a craft store. We had a "tea bag" bean bag toss, we made the tea bags with a natural cotton, filled with rice. We sewed string into one seam and attached a tea cup clip art. They tossed the tea bags into a tea pot which we painted onto a 3'x4' piece of thin plywood, then cut three holes. We played pin the tail on Honey(the horse that lives by Strawberry Shortcake). I drew the horse on a piece of white poster board and colored, this doesn't have to be a perfect drawing. Then we made "tails" from yarn and tied colored ribbons on one end. I used double back tape to attach their name and to stick the tail to honey. We played presents go round: I got small tubes of lipstick, put them into empty toliet paper rolls and wrapped with colorful tissue and ribbon. The kids sat in a circle, we played music. When the music stopped, the child holding the present, passed it to their right. As each person got a present, they moved out of the circle, until we were down to one. Everyone got a small present, so no one felt left out. We also had two boys(older brothers), we wrapped theirs in blue, used a small piece of candy for the prize. We did a Stawberry Shortcake pinata (from Toysrus). Instead of birthday cake we did mini cupcakes. They frosted the cupcakes and added sprinkles, we had a variety to choose from. I found a small tea set at Dollar General. It even had strawberries on the cups & plates. We had pink lemonade for the "tea", the girls poured from the small tea pots, which I refilled with my tea pot. We did not do ice cream, but strawberry would be perfect. We washed their plates, saucers & cups and put them in the favors bag. Also, I got some red feather boas (from the craft store), cut them in half and the girls wore them at the tea party with their straw party hats. I got some black & white film and took pictures of the tea party. We played Strawberry Shortcake Bingo using bingo sheets from DLTK Kids.com, I laminated these so they would last longer. We had little cups with M&M's for bingo markers. Bingo winners got a Strawberry Shortcake sticker. Parents began picking up their children as we played bingo, this worked really well. For goodie bags, I had found pink baskets and filled with a few Strawberry Shortcake items (charm bracelet & necklace), they also got their lipstick, tea bag (from tea bag toss), their tea cup, a box of crayons and I made some copies of coloring pages from a Strawberry Shortcake coloring book. The kids had a great time and everything went really smooth (this was a two hour party). The preparation was time consuming, but not too expensive, plus my daughter helped with everything (sewing, coloring, stuffing the goodies, filling the pinata, setting the table and decorating.
