For my daughter's 3rd Birthday we are having a Strawberry Shortcake inspired Tea Party. All of the girls will be bringing their favorate baby dolls, their mommies and everyone will be dressing
in their Tea Party Best. This is a girls only party and Mommies are also asked to participate. The decorations will be pastel pink, white, and some silver accents, as my daughter's name is
Sylver. A friend handmade the invitations. The 8 girls will dine at a low large coffee table covered in a pink table cloth and floor cushions covered in white (washable!!) sheets.
There will be dainty doll sized cups for the girl's dolls and regular sized tea cups for the girls. The utensils are going to be pink and the plates and napkins are Strawberry Shortcake Our
Food will be Strawberry Jam with Strawberry Yogurt Spread Sandwiches cut into tea pot shapes, Cucumber and Cream Cheese Sandwiches also in tea pot shapes, Strawberry Muffins in silver muffin
holders, and Strawberry Burgandy Soup. Beverages will be Strawberry Tea, Strawberry Soda, Strawberry Juice, and Strawberry Milk. There will be some Strawberry Wine for the Mommies.
Desert will be Strawberry Shortcake of Course! The centerpiece for the table will be a bowl of Strawberries that everyone will be happy to munch on! The activities will include, Pin the
Handle on the Tea Pot, made by my husband, a Strawberry Pinata, and a beaded necklace activity, as well as the tea party itself. The favors will include a VERY special hat made by me. I
bought posterboard and rolled them in to a cone shape the size of my daughter's head. You could also use regular Birthday hats, but I found them too small for what I had in mind. I covered
the hats with pink satin, lined the bottom with marabou and put a puff on top , a swirl of silver sequin ribbon, and the fasteners with pink ribbon. These are just like the ones that sell for
$26 a piece at Nordstrom and are SOOO cute and easy to make. You could also use wrapping paper to wrap the hats. The mini tea cups from Birthday express, the hats, the necklace from the
activity, a Strawberry scented favor bag that include a Strawberry Shortcake bracelet, a Strawberry Shortcake necklace lip gloss and Strawberry Shortcake glasses, all found at Walmart, the
pinata candy AND the handmade invitations will all be taken home by the guests I will take pictures of each girl with their baby dolls and mommies and send them along with a Thank You note
after the party.
The finishing touch of this party is the 'group gift'. Rather than purchasing many toys we asked family members and party attendees to contribute to a group gift. We decided since my daughter doesn't have a special doll everyone would purchase her the American Girl Bitty Baby complete with the Starter Kit, and the Strawberry Tea Birthday Set. She will open it before the Tea Party begins and start making memories with her new special doll right away, in the company of many of the people who made it possible.
