We had a Super Hero Training Party for my son's 4th birthday.    For the invitations, I used the Superman logo, but instead of using the 'S' - I did an 'R' for Russell.  I cut them out of red and yellow cardstock. Very simple and homemade. The Super Hero stamps are at the post office right now - so I used them to mail the invitations.    I ordered a 4 foot "Super Hero" to eat and made macaroni & cheese for the kids that didn't want to eat the Hero (although I didn't need too). We ate right away, then did games after we were all done eating.  We played Simon Says to improve our Super Hero listening skills. Then we were off to the obsticle course to stregnthen our physical bodies.  Finally, the super heros in training needed to practice shooting their targets with silly string.  I made an 'x' in chaulk on the side of the garage for them to shoot. After each game, they were awarded a Superman sticker. Next, was the graduation ceremony. They each sat down on the grass and came up for their Super Hero capes and masks when I announced their names. I sewed red silk capes for the girls and blue ones for the boys. (The fabric was cheap at Wal-Mart).  And I got the masks for a buck a piece at the party store. I told the kids, "Now that you are Super Heros, you have to keep your eyes peeled for any bad guys.  If you find any, you need to catch him and then tickle him."  I went into the house (and told my husband to go out as the villian). The kids all starting hunting for the bad guy. I ran out of the house, "Quick, someone stole all the candy! Get him!"  And they all chased my husband who was wearing a black cape and mask.  When they caught him, he jumped up into the air, fell down and the candy went flying into the air.  (We could have just bought 1 bag of dum-dum lollipops and that would've been enough.)   Finally, the cake arrived decorated just like the invitations with my son's initial. Instead of doing colored frosting, I used red & yellow sprinkles (at my son's request).    The party was a blast.  I tried to keep it cheap and simple.  I only bought blue and red crepe paper, no balloons. I used Super hero sheets for table cloths. The 4ft. hero was only $35.  And the capes and masks were $1.70 for each child. I didn't even bother to do goodie bags - they were happy enough with the capes and masks. Everyone had a great time!    Until next year...
