Kids Birthday
Party Supplies

We held a Superhero party for my 5 year old son. I made the invitations on the computer. They said--"You are needed for a top secret superhero mission....(inside)All superheros please report to Ian's 5th Birthday Party!" As the children arrived the boys received a blue cape and the girls a pink cape. Each was fastened closed with velcro.  A table was set up with crayons and coloring pages of several superheros (Spiderman, Batman, Power Puff Girls, Justice League, Incredibles, etc.).  We had a Batman cartoon playing as the kids colored.  This kept them busy while they all arrived.  Once everyone arrived we played "Pin Spidey on the Web" (self-explanatory!) and "Save Superman from the Kryptonite".  I drew a large picture of Superman and a large Kryptonite rock with the center cut out.  The children needed to toss a beanbag through the hole. Everyone received a sticker for trying.  Then the children went to the craft table. (I had two tables set up--one for crafts, decorated with Batman--one for eating, decorated with Spiderman--this way I was able to prepare each table as the kids were at the other one!). The kids make "Power Bracelets". I precut foam sheets with pinking shears to make strips to fit around the children's wrists. I put a piece of velcro on each end so they would attach around the child's wrist.   Each was about 11/2 inches wide. The children made one for each wrist.  They also made masks. I bought plain white ones. They decorated both items with self stick foam cut outs of letters and various designs.  Now the children were complete as Superheros.  We took a break for lunch.  Of course we served mini hero sandwiches.  I found small hero rolls. The children chose from the following heros--bologna, cheese, turkey, or roast beef (the most popular choice). After lunch we played Batman pinata. Then we returned to the craft table for our "Superhero Supply Kits". Each child received a canvas bag which I already ironed on the words "Superhero Supply Kits". The children decorated the bags with fabric markers and were told this is where they can keep their capes, masks, and bracelets as well as some other items they would receive later that day. We then played a "Simon Says" type game. I read the children a book about "real" heros--firefighters, EMTS, soldiers etc. As I read I had an adult fill the canvas bags with a ziploc filled with a pair of wrap around sunglasses, glow bracelet, superhero bubble necklace, and a telescope.  Each bag had the follwing listed on the bag---supply kit contents--x-ray vision sunglasses, glow in the dark bracelets to help find the villians, telescope to locate trouble, and bubbles to distract the enemy. I called each child up one by one to present them with their supply bag, congratulate them on being a terrific superhero and thanking them for coming to the party.  We took a digital photo of each child as a superhero and wrote on the back of the photos as thank you notes!   This was an amazing party!  The children had a wonderful time and I have to admit I was quite proud of myself!
