Superhero 5th Birthday
To celebrate my sons 5th birthday, we held a superhero party. Started with invites that were designed with his photo on the front - wearing his fav Superman costume. Text was in the fun comic style saying "Calling all super friends! You are summoned to SUPER MAX'S 5th BIRTHDAY! Come dressed as your favorite superhero!" Kids showed up dressed as all kinds superheros. Truly cute! They could immediately decorate their own mask. I had pre-cut black foam (with ribbon attached to tie in back), bowls of little beads and pom-poms and lots of glue. By parties end, the glue was dry and masks were ready to wear. Remember to have little stickers with kids names attached to back of masks so it's easy to find when leaving. Along with 'Pin the S on Superman', we played 'Pass the Parcel'. With each layer of paper taken off, the child got a sheet of superhero stickers. All kids got one. Spiderman made a surprise appearence (friend dressed in rented costume) and worth all the planning and begging to get someone to do this once you saw the kids faces! He also carried the Spiderman cake out as everyone sang. Throughout the whole party, we had a caricature artist sitting in the corner. He drew each child (black and white only) dressed up in costume. It took about 10 minutes for each drawing. For goodybags, the kids took home Spiderman tattoos, cheap Superman-style bubbles, and homemade capes with each child's initial ironed on the back.... along with their caricature, of course. Looking at the photos, there were truly so many smiles on both kids and parents. Good time had by all.
