SUPER HERO/ACTION ADVENTURE PARTY FOR FIVE YEAR OLD BOY! My boy loves all super heroes, so why choose just one character for a theme?  Invites: Everyone was invited to dress as a favorite action/super hero. Parents loved getting another use for thier kid's Holloween costumes. We had everything from Power Rangers to Bat Man.  Even the girls participated.  One dressed as a fairy godmother. The other put on tights, a leotard, and a cape with a sign that read "super girl" on it.  Games:  We put a heroic twist on old stand-by's.  I drew a big spider web on large poster board.  I also cut green contruction paper into two-inch circles. As the little heroes arrived, each drew a Green Goblin face on a circle.  We put names on the back to identify them.  We rolled up tape on the back of each goblin and played Stick Green Goblin to the Web.    I cut another piece of poster board to cover the backboard of our Little Tyke basketball goal.  The sign read "Buzz Lightyear Basketball." We taped-off various spots on the floor for the heroes to shoot from, labeled with the letters B,U,Z,Z.  Using nerf balls, each kid took turns trying to earn all four letters.  We enjoyed a spaceranger version of "Horse". We labeled one station "Jedi Knight Training."  My husband put the party-goers through fun heroic movements in a game of "Yoda Says" rather than "simon Says." Crafts:  A local paint store gave me a dozen paint stirrers.  I covered them with grey duct tape and little bit of black duct tape at one end, to resemble a sword.  I collected shoe box lids and covered them in foil. On the back of each in the middle, I taped a rubber band as a place for little hands to hold on. These "swords" and "shileds" were assembled before the guests arrived. I went through my kids' coloring books and made copies of tgers, dragons, lions, rockets, stars, etc.  Each child chose a picture and colored it, cut it out, and glued it to the front of his/her shiled.    Treat Bags: I used regular lunch paper bags decorated with American Flag stickers.  Inside each bag (along with candy treats) was a police or fireman action figure (purchased at a dollar store), a few green army men and stickers of various super heroes.  Cake: We made our own cake and decorated it with a Spiderman web, a Buzz Lightyear rocket, and a Batman emblem.  Because my son is my fourth child, I was trying to find a way to save money and still have fun.  As it turns out, this was one of the best parties our family can remember.
