For my son's sixth birthday we had a superhero party. He couldn't choose between Batman (his favorite) and Spiderman (due to the movie hype) so I chose to do all Superheroes because then even
the Powerpuff girls could be included. Invitations: I took a picture of my son in his Batman costume and printed the black and white picture on to brightly colored card-stock. In comic book
font I wrote, "Calling all superheroes....please report to Superhero training..." and then all the info. Party: We had the party at a gymnastics training center. I called ahead and
asked if the would be able to incorporate the superhero theme into what the normally do for a birthday party. The man who ran my son's party (Very energetic & needed to be with 12 boys
and 2 girls, all 4,5, or 6) was awesome. He sat up an obstacle course complete with a "Batcave" (vinyl tunnel), "Mountains" (foam blocks), "Lava" (the pit) and so
many others. It was obvious he planned ahead. He had the children flying like superman (stretching on the floor to warm up)& capture badguys (playing with the parachute). He earned the
big tip I gave him! The center ran the rest of the party- pizza, cake, and ice cream. GoodyBags: Superhero coloring books, Silly string (Spiderman's web), Bathooks (from a party store),
Spidey toothbrushes, Batman & Robin sticker puzzles, and the Hulk blow up dolls. The girls got Powerpuff girl toothbrushes, lollipops and stickers. Their blow up thing was Barbie
furniture. I really lucked out at the dollar store- but i started shopping in the summer for a December party. Each child also got a cape.Thank you's: Ater each kid went through training, they
were given a certificate- signed by the Training Commisioner, Justice Forall- with their new superhero name on it (found a web-site where you enter your name & it generates your superhero
name)and their cape ( I made out of red silky fabric and ribbon). We took a digital picture of each child with my son with their capes and cetificate. I printed the picture and my son wrote
this thank you on that paper using their superhero names, of course. This was a big hit with all the kids and I really didn't work very hard on it-which was good since I was seven months
pregnant! One note- if possible, shop around for the best deal for the gymnastics center. We used a not so new and shiny place and got a much better deal than other fancier places offered. It
really makes no difference to the kids how new the equipment is- it was clean and the people were friendly, that was all that mattered to me.(And I didn't have to cook!) My son is already
dreaming up plots for his next party!
