For my son's 5th birthday we just had to do a Superheroes theme for him.
We settled on the idea of Superhero Training Camp. Invitation: We used a premade Spiderman invitation and inside said it was for Luke's Superhero Training Camp" Decorations: We kept it simple with bunches of blue & red balloons and streamers. On the front door there was a big sign that said: "Welcome to Luke's Superhero Training Camp" Around the perimiter of the sign were comic-book style words like POW and BAM. Activities: Upon entering super power: can make things really big; THE GREAT GLIMMER super power: makes things bright and sparkly; SUPER SEEKER super power: can find anything. The children were each given a cape that I made out of satin polyester. Each cape had a crest with the child's first initial on it. The children then used glitter and star stickers to decorate masks and power bracelets that I had cut out of fun foam. Games: We had three games set up as "tests" for the training camp. The first was pin the tail on the donkey (to test their sense of direction important for flying the right way. The second was an obstacle course of hula hoops balls step stools etc. (to test their super speed and agility). The third was a ball toss where they threw soft balls into each of three different sized buckets (to test their aim). Of course everyone passed the tests and received a piece of their loot bag (batman sticker book giant bubbles sidewalk chalk) upon completion of each one. Party Snacks: We served chicken fingers and "super"fries and offered a vegetable tray as well. I made a cake with the Superman crest and served it with watermelon wedges. Favors: At the end of the party the children left with their own Superhero kit (the capes masks and power bracelets) as well as the loot bag contents in a canvas bag that I had personalized with each child's name. The party was a big hit for all."
