Every year, I do an end of the school year party. This idea can be used for anything that happens from spring to fall! If you don't want to chip into your budget to much, start buying luau-themed decorations 2 or 3 months early. My mother and I spent over $75 on decorations, but from where we spread out the buying process over two months, I didn't even NEAR effect our budget. The next thing to do is figure out where the two camps" will be. One will need to be shady and the other sunny. The day of the party place one chair and one mat in the shady area and two chairs and two mats in the sunny area. After that you need to start planning out games. For my party I would watch Survivor the series and adapt games off of them. Here's the list of games: 1.)River Cross a.)What you need for this game: two long ropes four sheets of paper b.)What you need to do:Place two sheets of paper on both teams' starting position at only ONE rope. c.)Rules:Each team will divide in half. One half goes to either rope; the other half go to the other rope. On go players pick up the paper and must get across the "river" without their feet hitting the ground. If a players foot barely hits the ground don't worry and let them keep going. If it goes off a lot have them go back to their starting line. When a player reaches the other side the next player on their team goes off to the other side. The first team to get all players on the different side wins. 2.)Rainbow Checklist a.)What you need for this game: two checklists with the letters roygbi and v. two red markers two orange highlighters two green crayons two blue highlighters two indigo crayons two violet/purple markers fifty brown paper bags b.)What you need to do:Fill as many bags as you can with the rainbow items. Then fill the rest with pebbles gravel or something else you have a mass quantity of around your house. Form a square of bags 10 bags x 5 bags. c.)Each team opens the bags to find a rainbow item. BUT they must work down the checklist and only have one team member searching at one time. If a player can't find what they're looking for they can switch out with a team member. If a player finds something they have to go back to their team and send a new player out. 3.)Twisted rope and lock game a.)What you need: two ropes two combination locks(letter lock are easier on you for this game) one checklist with two vertical columns of the alphabet or numbers(depends on your lock). b.)What you need to do: Take the rope and twist it around something and lock it on. Have it to where the lock must come off to get the rope off of the object. c.)Each team will guess a letter/number off the checklist. If it's in their combination they get a check. Otherwise they get an x. When they get all the numbers/letters from their combination send them off to their rope. The first team to get the lock of and fully un-tangle the rope wins. These were the best games I came up with but I had many more. Now you need to start planning how things will happen and when they'll happen. Where the tribal council area will be is the first thing to plan. Place a few chairs and mats or just a tarp. Next plan where the "feast" will be. Decorate and make a place the kids can relax for about thirty minutes. 4.)THIS SHOULD BE THE FIRST GAME PLAYED!! Goody Bag Grab a.)What you need: a brown bag for every player slips of paper with things like "Free chair free water bottle have one that says,Give this slip to the host at the next tribal council to have all votes towards you DESTROYED!" b.)What you need to do:Fill each bag with a slip of "reward" paper. c.)Rules: Pick one player at a time to go up and take a bag. Tell them they can't open their bags until every person has one. After all players have went and have opened their bags have each person with "chair" on their slip to come up and trade the slip for a fold-out chair. Do this with every type of reward other than the immunity award. Here's how things went down at my party: First when all players arrived they drew for buffs/bandannas. Then have the players do their first game. This game should be Goody Bag Grab. Then have the players put their items off to the side with their team mates items. Choose one player from each team to step forward. Have them play rock paper scissors SHOOT! The winning team gets to pick the camp they want. Tell the kids to take the items they won in goody bag grab to their camp. Give the players a few minutes to search around the camp and settle in before you play the next game. As you go through the games have odd number games be reward challenges and even numbered games immunity challenges. (EX: Cross the Rives is the second game [counting Goody bag grab] so it'll be an immunity challenge.) Have at least twelve games for the players. Every time a team wins give them a point. At tribal council a person can't be voted out two times in a row. Have it to where the person "voted out" can't play the next game. If their team wins they will get to share the reward though. This prevents kids from felling left out. At the middle of the game have both teams put their buffs in a bowl ad redraw their team. This adds a sense of being on the show. Go through the list of games you've made and have a good time. At the end of the game have one last tribal council. Have players vote for the MVP of the day. Give the MVP a tiki style trophy and a few small prizes. Then give the winning team a few prizes. Make sure to do your best to give every a fun day!
