Survivor Birthday Party  I have four children and two of them have birthdays 3 days from each other.  I decided this year instead of having two seperate parties, I would combine them into one party but still have them have their own areas. The survivor theme seemed to be ok with both kids. I let them invite 4 friends each.  Thankfully the weather was nice.  I have two camps set up.  I used poptents on either side of the yard and made up names and flags to post at each camp  "Ooga Tribe" and "Booga Tribe". Each birthday child had their friends at their camp. They played for cake, actually.  I made two cakes. I made a two tiered birthday cake with fancy decorations and candy and it was very nice. This cake would be served with ice cream and napkins and forks and plates.  The other cake was a "dirt cake".  Basically a sheetcake with chocolate frosting and crumbled chocolate cookies on top to look like dirt.  I also stuck in a bunch of gummy worms. This cake would be for the "losing team" and they would have to eat the cake and ice cream out of a cup with no utensils.  Needless to say, as kids are, everyone was trying to lose so that they owuld have an excuse NOT to be civilized.  We had a few games. One was I had a bag full of different foods that were all numbered.  I had another bag with the corresponding numbers. Each child pulled a number and if they opted to eat the food, they got how ever many points that food was worth.  The higher the number, the yuckier the food.  We had candy and veggies with low numbers and baby food (mashed green beans, corn casserole, etc) and also sardines and octopus with high numbers. If someone chose not to eat their food, they had the option of offering it to another teammate, otherwise, the other team could eat it for the points.  ANother game we played was filling a gallon milk jug with water.... relay style.... using a cup.  That was funny, only I got soaked because the kids thought they were very funny to keep dumping the water on ME rather than in the jugs. One last game was each team was asked questions about their birthday friend to see how much they knew about their friend. That was fun too.  We also had a pinata for each tribe.... pineapple pinatas hanging from trees near their camp.  snacks were veggies a nd fruit and trail mix. I decorated with some stuff I bought online at oriental trading.... CHinese lanterns.... palm trees.... etc..... It was a ton of fun and the kids liked it alot.  My sister runs a preschool and took the birthday party idea and trasformed it into a day of fun at her school!
