Survivor Party: We followed the original Survivor (island theme). As it is very cold here in the winter we thought it would be a good idea to ask all guests to wear island wear and bring one
necessity item (as the survivor contestants did). I downloaded the song from "Survivor" and burned it on a CD which I had playing as the guests arrived. We had torches lighting the
walkway to our front door (even though the ground was covered with snow). Everyone wore appropriate shorts, t-shirts, hiking boots, hats, etc. All enjoyed tropical drinks, fish crackers and
gummy worms. I had decorated the dining room with inexpensive burlap which I cut to cover anything that didn't fit (i.e.. china cabinet) covered the top of the dining room table with burlap
and had shredded green garbage bags and that provided the fringe hanging down. I had shells sprinkled on the table with silk orchards and little candles. I used an evergreen garland that
looked more like a jungle garland highlighted with silk orchids all along it. I found a Hawaiian breezes air freshener to make it smell appropriate. Made fake palm trees with big plastic
tubes and green bristol board. We had a huge sign made out of cardboard that my husband burned around the edges and it said "Pulau Tiga" the name of the island in Survivor. We
divided into two teams by pulling green or orange stripes of bias tape out of a hat (I had cut the tape to tie on people's wrists, but they found all kinds of creative places to tie them).
This identified the two teams. We then sat down to play the board game survivor. We played the first half of the game as two teams. At the end of this part we needed to get the number of
people to 8 (for the individual play part of the board game). So I had created a few challenges to get rid of people. Bought two foam puzzles of crabs, each team got one, first team to put it
together did not have to kick person off the island. Voting was hilarious. Video taped people telling reason they voted and how they voted (just like the show). Then served dinner. Kitchen
was decorated with more candles, flowers, coconuts, fresh fruits, etc. For dinner we had an oriental coleslaw (sesame dressing and crunchy fried noodles), bell pepper rice, Dried garlic ribs,
sweet and sour pork and for dessert mango upside down cake and banana bread pudding with rum sauce. The game had worked up an appetite and there was very little left! Then we sat down to play
the rest of the game. During game play I had tropical, reggae type music playing. The game was very loud and lots of fun by this time. We ended the night by dancing to the island sounds. It
was an extremely fun night that was enjoyed by all (except for my husband who got kicked off the island first!!)
