Hey I was 15 when I started planning my Sweet Sixteen Bash.  I thought it was going to be the best night of my life and i wanted to have everything perfect and everything the way I wanted it to be, but if you have ever had a party in the past you know that things don't always go as planned.  me and my mom started planning approx. a year in advance. All my friends who were girls all wanted to have these really outragest parties inviting hundreds of people they didn't really even know and if you have ever seen on MTV My Super Sweet Sixteen you will know and understand more of what I am talking about.  Some of the girls in my school invited 50 to 100 people and not more then 5 showed up even after RSVPing to the party.  After that girls started holding contests with prizes ranging from $25 to $100. That was when I decided I wanted to have a small Party and have my close friends the ones I can relie on invited to my party the girls who i wanted to share my special day with so I made out the list and in total there was 9 of us.  I wanted to have a theme party so I am really into celebrities and acting so I created a theme called "The Stars" everything had to do from acting and dressing like celebrities and higher class. I looked through hundreds of party mag.'s for the right decorations. I found the most suitable at the following sites they are reliable and they my be a little over priced but it was deffinitly worth it (<http://stumps.com>), (http://shindigz.com>), (http://orientaltrading.com>), (<http://pprom.com>) and ballons and streamers i found cheap at a local party store.  My dads friend was also in the party planning business so he was able of finding me a Marylin Monroe, James Dean, and Elvis Presley (The King) standee figures.  which helped tie in the room.  I also had a karoke machine, rose petals and floor pillows which were to serve both as a comfortable place to seat and a part favor I also found thes really cool low to to floor pillows at Walmart.com and if you have ever been to or seen in the movies japanese restaurant when the people sit on the floor and the table is very low to the floor you will know what i am talking about.  I also supplied each girl with a throw away camera which would help capture the memories.  I found these really cool invitations that had star confetti in clear enevelopes and you could have them shipped and custom written for no extra fee. I had the girls arrive at my house at 11am due to travel time.  None of the girls knew where they were going to be taken all they knew is that they had to dress nice and we were going to be eating dinner out.  For lunch i served them a platter of mini sandwiches which you can find at a local grocery store and i had a veg platter and chips. We ate lunch and then were to get ready to leave.  At 12:30 a stretch white limo was to arrive to pick all 9 girls and my mom and dad to Lyndurst New Jersey where we were to celebrate at Medieval Times.  All of my friends had never been before and they all enjoyed screaming and cheering for the RED knight we enjoyed the dinner and got to eat with our hands which was a lot of fun.  When it was over we returned and went to a local Ice Cream Palor to enjoy a cool refreshing desert. Then we came back to my house and it was close to 10pm. All the girls got into their bathing suits and we enjoyed a swim in the pool and relaxing in the jacuzzi. After that we got into our Pjs and sang to Karaoke and ate plenty of Cake.  We also opened presents, danced, and took hundreds of pictures.  The next morning we woke up got dressed and headed to a local restaurant for a full brunch buffett.  We then returned home watched movies and they left.  I gave them favors which included the floor pillow, a mini purse filled with little mini hershey bars that had wrapped around them a personalized wrapping with my name and on a license plate and a photo album for when they get the pictures that I developed from the party. It was a great party and everyone enjoyed themesleves a year later all of my friends are still talking about my great Party.  In total it cost approx $1,500 but it was definitely worth it.
