My daughter, Suzanne, is turning 16 on 26 April. Since she's attending a very small private school, she doesn't have prom's and homecomings to look forward to. So I decided to let this be "the party of her life!" We are hosting a "black/white" party - asking everyone to "dress to impress within our black/white theme." The event is being held at a local inn/hotel. We'll have a DJ, catered buffet, etc. to make the evening special. Over 50 guests are expected. Couple of special touches to the evening: I am having one of her baby pictures made into a 150 piece jigsaw puzzle. All guests will be given 2-3 pieces and will be asked to work together through the night to assemble the "piece of art!" (This is a surprise for her.) Instead of a sign-in book, I will have a picture of her (much younger!!! ha)matted with a oversized off-white mat. Guests will be asked to sign their names on the mat - with a few words of "the good times" if they like. This way, instead of a guests book that gets tucked away, she has a photo from the evening and the words of all her friends to hang right on her wall. As well, we will be playing a couple of rounds of "name that tune" with the tables (following dinner) participating against one another to name the tunes and their performers the quickest. Finally, at the end of the night, I will ask all the kids to help Suz load the gifts into the car.  The big surprise . . . she'll be directed to her new car -the one in the parking lot with the big red bow!!!!   However, with all this excitement, I think her biggest delight will come from the singing telegram being sent to her by her brother who is in the Navy and unable to attend. I hope it's a wonderful night for her - one that will live forever in her memory as the night she went from little girl to young woman.
