My husband and I hosted a formal tea party for our five year old. We printed the invitations on regular card stock and covered the outside with pink/white check. On top of the
check was a tea pot with "a tea party" printed. I tied a small tulle' ribbon in the fold of the card.
We asked two boy-friends to wear their tuxes and escort the girls from their cars, up a candle lit path, onto the red carpet(red fabric) to the door. The girls choose a jewelry set and had Polaroid picture in a formal setting. They then made jeweled acrylic picture frames to take home. They were then set at a small table w/ a pink table cloth. The table was then draped in white tulle' that was pulled up at the corners w/ white tulle'bos, silver ribbon and English ivy. Each guest had a place card on a glass luncheon plate and tea cup. There was a silver candle lobra w/ pink candles. We dined on heart-shaped ham and cheese sandwiches, round cinnamon/raisin bread w/PNB and banana sandwiches and chicken nuggets. The punch table was dressed same as the guest table. The punch bowl was in a ring of ivy, small white lights, and ribbon and tulle'. I froze mini-carnations in ice trays for the punch. This was a big hit! The birthday cake was in a tea pot design. I baked it in a 2 qt glass bowl and put the two ends together. The handle and spout were cut out of Styrofoam plate and covered w/ icing. The mothers were more impressed than the kids. But the kids loved the whole thing!!!!!
