I hosted a birthday tea party for 6 of my daughter's friends (4-5 years old) at a local ceramic cafe.
The invitation was a white box tied with a big pink, a dime store "diamond" ring and a tag that read, "You're invited, Dahling!" The box contained pink confetti and tissue paper that hid a tiny porcelain tea set. Each piece of the tea set had a little tag attached (ex. the tea cup handle) that explained where and when the party was, and other details for the party. One tag encouraged each to dress up in their feather boas, hats, fancy dresses and gobs of jewels. Each little girl showed up dressed to the nines. We held the party at a ceramic cafe where I had special ordered tea cups and saucers for each girl to paint. The birthday cake was a beautiful pink and white tea pot and my daughter and I made tea cup shaped sugar cookies and decorated them to look like pink and white china with their initial on each one. Each cookie was wrapped in clear cellophane and tied with a big pink bow and was set at their place. Of course, we served tea with tiny sugar cubes decorated with S's for Sophia! Party favors were dollar store pink and black velvet purses filled with lipstick, costume jewelry, hair accessories and compact mirrors. One week later we delivered the tea cups and saucers to each party girl after they had been "baked" to seal the color. The girls and parents just loved the party!
