For my daughter's 5th birthday, we had a tea party. There were 8 girls invited.
I borrowed a small table and 8 chairs from my daughters preschool. I decorated the table in a pink, lavender and white table cloth and hung matching streamers around the table. Pink, lavender and white balloons and streamers hung from the ceiling. I added a lace paper placemat, paper plates and napkins with a teapot theme and plastic teacups in front of each child's chair. We cut and colored flowers from construction paper and placed them around the room. Trees were cut and colored out of heavy cardboard and placed about the room. The girls decorated straw hats with various silk flowers, glitter and sequins. I bought 8 feather boas in pink and purple and each child had their picture taken in their hat and boa. With my digital camera I took each child's photo and printed them on my computer. I placed each child's photo in a handmade frame made from cardboard, with feathers and beads around the border. We had a contest for the best decorated hat and all 8 children won, of course. Their prize was a pink plastic heart bucket with a comb, teapot, and stickers. The children enjoyed cupcakes decorated in teacup candies, strawberry ice cream, heart shaped cookies iced in pink frosting and punch with strawberry sorbet floating in it. A homemade teapot pinata filled with inexpensive toys and candy from the local dollar store was the grand finale! My daughter had a wonderful party and her friends still talk about it at preschool.
