For my daughters 2nd Birthday party, my mom and I did it up big and planned for months...making an excel spreadsheet of everything we needed to purchase and plan for. We slowly picked up
everything as time went on and the event was fantastic! I wanted a very sweet, classy birthday that had a lot of personal touches. We turned our dining room into a tea parlor.
Invitation: I made an invition that is a tea cup and then connected by a brad to a cute cake. The invitation wording is over both the teacup and the cake and I had it printed to read: It would suit me to a tea" If you'd come celebrate with me! We found pink fabric and sewed tablecloths that draped to the ground and also sewed matching chair cover. We tied tulle into a bow around back of the chairs. Table Top: My mom did a search online and found children's size real china cups and saucers. Each table had a centerpiece of a clear vase filled with marshmellows which held a single large heart shaped lollipop. I bought photo paper that peals and sticks and printed a photo of the birthday girl on the paper and cut them in a shape of a heart and stuck them over the heart lollipop. I had 12 of the heart lolli's - one for each girl to take with them. In addition to the giant heart lollipops I bought the spiral unicorn large lollipops and also placed them in the centerpiece. So the centerpiece was full of lollipops that the girls could take with them. At Walmart I bought inexpensive linen napkins and found adorable pink flower pony tail holders that I tied around the napkin that was placed on the china plate. The girls could also take home their pony tail holder. Since all of the girls in attendance were young and could not read I found heart seat place cards and asked all mom's to email me a headshot of their daughter prior to the party. So each seat at a place card of a photo of each girl in attendance. Game: I found a darling photo of my daughter in a pretty dress and blew it up to a poster size. I bought 12 cheap play crowns that would allow me to put scotch tape on the back and the kids played "Pin the Crown on the Birthday Princess." For the winner I had a package of hair accessories/little items girls love. Goody Bags: On the Oriental Trading Company website I found a ton of princess goodies. I bought their little pink canvass "Princess" bags their princess candy necklace princess rubber duckies princess crowns and through Melissa and Doug (a toy company) I ordered 12 princess mirrors that the girls could take home and decorate with glitter glue jewels etc. The bags were jammed packed full of princess goodies. Tea and Yummies: In a silver tea pot I served strawberry lemonaide into the girls china cups. I made tiny sandwiches of peanut butter & jelly and ham and cheese sandwiches. I ordered cream puffs from the grocery store had fruit veggies. I ordered a gorgeous birthday cake with white frosting and beautiful pink rose flowers. It was gorgeous! It was a small cake and also ordered matching cupcakes for each little girl. I served real tea to the mom's. It was a great birthday and everyone loved it! "
