When my daughter turned 4 last year we decided on a "Teddy Bear's Picnic" theme from the older day book/video.   We cut out little brown bears and wrote the invitations on his belly.  When the little girls arrived they were escorted into the family room that had been decorated as a picnic area. I bought a very large amount of pink plastic to cover the rug and had the room filled with fake trees, flowers, plants, ect... Each child received a teddy bear shaped sandwich and other food items such as berries from the pretend woods.  The toy room was filled with every blanket and pillow and TEDDY BEAR we could find in the house to be comfy like a pretend sleep over for the girls to watch the Teddy Bears Picnic Video.  When the video was done each girl came into the dining room that was set up like a Build-A-Bear workshop and each one got to pick their own bear and then they picked a sweater and hat for their bear. I bought the bears and clothes at Michaels craft store.  Next, a friend of mine had a huge 4 foot stuffed teddy bear that we put on the couch in the living room. They each sat on his lap and we took an individual picture of them with their individual bears they put together. The photos we later used as part of the thank you notes.  The give a way bags were little bags in the shape of purses (just big enough for their little new bear friends) and they were each filled with gummi bears.  The cake was a special bear shape cake made from a special cake pan and decorated like a brown teddy bear. The thank you notes were special friendship cards with a bear on it and picture of each child sitting on the lap of the very large stuffed bear. Oh, we also did foam bear sticker crafts and decorated the tables with bears holding balloons.  We even found a little bear that sings Happy Birthday.  We had so much fun and a lot of the mothers commented how great it was that I thought I would share some of the ideas!
