Teddy Bear Birthday Party for our twin boy's 1 year old birthday party! Let's start with the invitations. I got the most adorable stationery that had country bears printed at the top and
a bear paw print border around the edge. I printed the invitations on the computer and they read, "Your invited to a "beary" special 1st birthday party." etc... The
invitations were folded in thirds and I printed paw prints "coloring book" style on the back of each invitation for the kids to color. Three primary crayons were included in each
invitation and the envelope was sealed with a paw print sticker. We rented our local clubhouse for the party which was literally transformed! We posted country bear signs with bear balloons
that lead our guests to the clubhouse. Once there, the guests could follow the huge bear paw prints that lead to the "cave-like" door entrance. Once inside they were greeted by
"Craig", a five foot, white, plush, stuffed teddy bear that was all decked out in birthday hat and a tie made from their nursery fabric! Next to "Craig" was a photo
display/time capsule of pictures that we had taken of the boys while they were sitting on "Craig's" lap from 1 month old until 1 year old. Next to "Craig" we also placed 2
clipboards that had the same stationery from their invitations on it. We asked each guest to sign in by writing their Warm Wishes to each child. These sheets were then added to the boys' baby
books. On to the decorations in the room. I replicated a similar bear pattern that was on the invitation to hang as a banner as you walked into the room. I carefully selected a color theme of
blue and yellow which represented the colors we used the whole first year to tell the twins apart. Each table was covered in tablecloths that alternated in color as well as the plates, cup
and forks. Each napkin was folded neatly and stamped with a black paw print. On every table I placed, (2) one foot tall, resin, bears sitting back to back to weigh down the bear balloon
bouquets. The food table was decorated with the party favors for our guests. The favors were porcelain bear picture frames, that would be filled with a Polaroid of each guest sitting with the
boys on "Craig's" lap. The pictures were matted with printed paper that read, "A "beary" good time! _______& _______'s 1st birthday party & the date.
They were also given miniature resin bears with attached hollowed out tree stumps that were filled with gummy bears. We went all out with the bear theme on the food table. We served meatball sandwiches and cold cuts served on homemade rolls shaped like...well you guessed it... bears! Of course we had all of the fixin's too! We had a trail mix that included honeycomb cereal, teddy bear grahams, marshmallows and chocolate chips. We had chocolate cookies that were coated in melted chocolate and peanut butter with a teddy grahams sunken in to the top of them. The cake was my favorite part...we made a vanilla/chocolate sheet cake, with vanilla icing, edged with gummy bears. Black paw prints led to the center of the cake where there were two 3-D chocolate iced bear cakes sitting back to back (just like the centerpieces). Each bear was holding a stick balloon that said..."Happy First Birthday". These 3-D bears became the birthday boys' own personal cakes to literally dig into! The chocolate icing made for some perfect first cake pictures! The children all wore bear party hats and the twins also wore ribbons attached to their little suits that said, "Happy 1st Birthday". I set up "mini-caves" aka stations in the back room for all of the little ones so they could have fun just like the adults. The stations included, a kick start, a mobile, a tunnel, a few push toys, an activity table and lots of bear stuffed animals! It sure was a "Beary" special first birthday to remember!
