For my daughter's 4th bithday, we had a teddy bear tea party. We sent out teddy bear invitations and told the girls to wear a party dress and bring their teddy bear. To decorate for the
party, I had purchased foam hearts and foam bears stickers from Michael's and made happy birthdy signs and signs for each different shop...candy shop, jewelry shop and beauty salon. I had
also purchase valentine teddy bear plates and napkins that were perfect for our theme.
We decorated the house with lots of teddy bears. I also had dressed the four largest teddy bears in my daughter's baby dresses, hats and ribbons. We used these bears to hold balloons and to decorate a foyer table with a minature china tea set. To prepare for the party activities and to purchase party favors, I bought each girl one little cosmetic set at the dollar store. It had everything from cosmetics to hairstuff to jewelry(probably 11 different items for each girl...all for just $1). It was a two hour party with a perfect party program schedule. At 11:00...Time to get ready at Teddy du Chez Salon where we painted fingernails, sprayed perfume mist, put foam heart earrings and pink lip gloss. At 11:20...Time to shop. We started at the Salon. The girls were given shopping bags decorated with a teddy bear face that said "thank you beary much." They were also given a little sac of pennies so they could purchase there party favors at each shop. They bought their cosmetic items: perfume, hand cream, lip gloss, fingernail polish, hair stuff, etc. for a penny each. Then we went to Ted,s Beary Fine Jewelry to shop for some bracelets, earrings and rings. From there, we went to the Hug's and Kisses Candy shop for gummy bears, heart lollipops and gumballs from the gumball machines. At 11:40...Time for party games. We included our teddy bears in all our games such as, ring around the rosie, hot potato, musical chairs, charades, etc. At 12:00...Time for tea. The girls had a special table with a white table cloth, silver platters, glass tea cups (punch bowl cup with red ribbon and a foam teddy bear sticker), PBJ or strawberry cream cheese finger sandwiches, minature fruit kabobs and a veggie tray with dip. I included lots of black olives, which definitely is the big hit in finger foods. The "tea" (hawaiian punch) was served from my sterling silver tea pot. Of course, we had a teddy bear cake. The teddy bears also had their own tea party (a child's table decorated with a plastic tea set that was also purchased from the dollar store). At 12:30, it was time to open presents. At 1:00, it was time for teddy bears to nap...in their own homes. It was the perfect little girl's tea party and a very inexpensive one, too.
