For my daughter's first birthday we had a bear themed party.
I didn't like any of the instant party themes, and she loves her stuffed bear, so the bear it was. I set up my backdrop and took a picture of her holding her stuffed bear. I changed the photo to sepia tone and created an invitation in Microsoft Digital Image Pro. I made a 5x7 invitation. I used a periwinkle background on the invite, with the picture on a little more than half of the invitation. In white, with a font from David Walker I put a big 1" on the periwinkle and made it slightly transparent. Then I wrote a poem over the top of the "1" that told about our baby: "It's a beary special birthday for a beary special girl one year ago today Haley came into our world. With her big brown eyes and adorable smile she has brought us joy laughter and love Our sweet little Haley is a beautiful gift sent from up above." I printed these on matte photo paper. I also created a 5x7 jpeg file with all of the party information. After I printed 2 photos on each sheet of matte photo paper I flipped the paper over and printed the party info on the back. I cut the invites out and mailed these to family and friends in 5x7 vellum envelopes that I picked up at a local craft store. For decorations I bought solid periwinkle tableware and tablecloths as well as balloons. I also made a poster - I had taken a picture of her bear against the backdrop. I changed it to sepia tone put it on a periwinkle background put the text on and saved it as a jpeg. I uploaded it to Snapfish.com and ordered a poster print. For the cake I bought a 3-D bear cake pan from Wilton. I also bought the mini-bear cake pan. I made those cakes and decorated them to match her bear. And to make sure we had enough cake I made cupcakes and decorated them with the fur colored frosting. Because our baby is only one we didn't do games and stuff. We did have bubbles - what's a party without bubbles? And for favors I sent each child home with a stuffed bear and a "Golden Book" with their name and "Thank you for coming to Haley's first birthday party. We hope you had fun!" written on the inside. I also made the thank you cards using the bear picture periwinkle background and text "Thank you beary much!" in white. I printed these on the matte photo paper as well and folded them to be 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". "
