Teddy Bear Picnic 1st Birthday
Usually at a first birthday party more adults are present than children. I made up a fun game for the adults ..."Name this bear." I gave the adults descriptions of a famous sport figure who had "bear" in their name or played for a team whose mascot is a bear. For example, I read descriptions about Coach "Bear" Bryant, Coach George "Papa Bear" Hallis (Chicago Bear head coach), Sammy Sosa (Chicago Cubs), Walter Payton (Chicago Bear), UCLA Bruins, California Golden Bears, Refrigerator Perry (Chicago Bear). It was a big hit. The winner received a bag of Teddy Grahams. Another game was to "Count the Bears." I stuffed Gummy Bears into a pint jar, passed it around the room. The winner received the jar to take home. Party favors: children...The Teddy Bear Picnic book with an inscription from my one year old ( which I wrote in print) and later sent a picture of all the children present at the party; Parents party favors...cinnamon scented pine cones to burn in fireplace as winter season is coming and a souvenir as we live in The Woodlands. Teddy Bear sandwiches were made from Bear cookie cutters. Each table was decorated with red check plastic table clothes, bears and books were assembled on the tables as decorations. I made a teddy bear birthday cake. Children could also bring their favorite teddy bear from home to join the Teddy Bear Picnic.
