My Children 5yrs.(boy) and 9yrs. (girl) wanted to have a party at Build A Bear. We talked about the price..and decided that to stick with in our budget, the children would not be able to buy an outfit for their bears..or stuffed animal.  My children were really sad about this, as this is the best part! So, I went on-line and tried to find some cute inexpensive bear clothes I might be able to stick in a goodybag for the kids to dress their bears in at home.  Instead, I found a web site (www.adollysworld.com) that offers bears, dolls, and other animails you can stuff at home.  Average price for these bears is 9.95 a piece...I let my children each choose a bear..we then ordered the same bear for everyone who would be invited to the party.  These bears are so cute!! and really great quality..they have a zipper back so when you stuff them at home you just zip them up! The bears have a string attatched to the zipper and once you zip your new stuffed animal up you cut off the string..and you don't have to worry about children unzipping and making a mess with the fluff...I also got a little crazy and made my own VERY simple pattern and sewed not one outfit for the bears..but two! I really don't sew..and haven't really ever done anything like this before!  But I took a shirt and a pair of pants from a build a bear outfit and made a pattern by tracing around the pants..and shirt..making it about 1/2 inch larger all around to allow for the seam allowance.. I let my kids pick out some cute fabric..and I sewed some really really really cute outfits for each bear.  Each outfit probably took about 1/2 an hour to make..so, it was a little time consuming..but it turned out really cute and I impressed myself..how easy it was to make a cute little outfit for these bears.  For the girl bears we attatched cute little bows we made out of ribbon. Most of all I really saved money by sewing their outfits..I made them all the same except my kids.. I let them have their own special outfit for their bears.  The bears came with a birth certificiate and a wishing star..For my 9 year old I got some of my baby nameing books out so they could choose a name..they really got into that! I even got carried away with my 9 year olds party and made her an outfit to match her bears!  I just bought a very simple pattern and followed it..Again..I DO NOT SEW..and I really was able to pull this off.  It was so much fun for her..and for me! I also bought cute little baby brushes at walmart for 97 cents..we brushed our bears when we were done stuffing them.  I asked a few moms to stay..especially at my 5 year olds..I am so glad I did..they needed a little extra help. The girls at 9 were able to stuff their own bear just fine. The stuffing by the way can be bought at wal-mart or any fabric store. Very inexpensive!  We had pizza and ice cream and also served teddy grahams and gummy teddys...For the invitations..we hand delivered them..I had a cute stamp set from stamp-in-up with bears and ballons..birthday hats etc..I stamped a bear holding a present in one hand and balloons in the other hand, with a birthday hat on. Folded the cardstock in half...on the back of the card stock I typed out..You are invited to ___________'s stuff and fluff a bear party"...with all imortant details under that. We put gummy bears in a very small zip lock baggie...You can buy these in the wedding/craft section at walmart...then we put the folded cardstock over the zip lock bag part and stapled in on both sides...They were really cute. The kids had so much fun and want to do it again for their next birthdays!! The parents who stayed and helped all commented on what a cute fun birthday party it was. They wanted to do it for their kids..but were concerned about the outfits for the bears as they couldn't sew..I had a sewing machine but I honestly do not sew..and I pulled it off with out much difficulity at all! I just traced the pants..again 1/2 inch bigger all around..cut the pattern out.. fold material in half pin pattern to material and cut..sew wrong sides together..I put elastic on the waist.. these bears we ordered did not have big tails..so I didn't have to worry about a hole for their tails.  I did the same pattern process for the shirts..This website (www.adollysworld) also had cute outfits and plain t-shirts for a very reasonalbe price as well. I know you could get a little t-shirt for 1.75 a piece..a friend of mind did this..and ironed on names of the kids coming to the party on the bears shirt.  IT was a great great time..The kids still tell me how much fun they had at our kids party..and they have their cute bears to remind them!
