We had Thomas the Tank Engine party for 3 year old. Cake: Cakes.com had Thomas cakes & listed bakeries in my small town where I could get it. Huge time saver. Food:Used
Thomas cups from Birthday Party Express and put goldfish crackers in them-less spillage.
Used juice boxes-less spillage. Had table set up except for cake before kids entered. Huge time saver with ten 2 & 3 year olds in room. Place: Church gym but too large. Should have blocked off part of it. Had following Mother's Day Out so easy for parents. We walked kids to gym and parents picked up after party (2-3:30). Decorations: Balloons in red, green, black, & red. Tied cards with engine stickers and a train whistle to each. Gave matching cards to kids & had to match for their balloon & whistle. Did this after cake and presents. Kids then had whistle to blow until parents arrived. Games: 1)Train costumes- Collected shallow boxes. Folded the top and bottom panels inside the box so the top and bottom open and child could wear around waist. Painted like trains, ie, red for James, blue for Thomas, etc. Used craft paint and covered well. Used yellow paint pen to paint # on side. Pen worked better than paint. Could use paint pen to paint lines on trains. Printed blowup face of Thomas from computer and hot glued to front of box. Used felt and hook Velcro for straps. Crossed them in the back. Industrial hook Velcro best so stick well and can adjust for best fit. Put railroad track on floor with painters tape. Kids moved around track in "train costumes." They loved the costumes and most took home with them. 2)Coal toss-Painted James' tender red and put crumbled black contruction paper in bottom. Made black rice bags for coal. the girls especially enjoyed toss the bean bags. 3)Building-Took my sons large cardboard bricks and the kids built towers and ran into them with their trains. This was a favorite of the boys. 4) Pin Thomas on Annie-blew up pictures of Thomas and Annie from internet. Printed on cardstock and cut out. used sticky tack to stick on wall. 5) Musical trains-Painted shallow boxes like trains(see train costumes above). Played Thomas CD while kids moved around track. When music stopped they had to get into a train sitting on floor in center of track. Rather than remove child not in box, we allowed them to put as many kids in one box. We continued until interest wained, rather than a winner. 6)Conductor Says-Like Simon Sez. 7)Follow the Leader-My husband leader and pretended to go through different situations, ie, snow, to water tank, over bumpy track, etc. Treat bags: Filled with Thomas stickers, candy, playdo, kazoo (from Oriental Trading). Received train whistle with balloon (see Decorations above). Also received blow outs with cake and present time.
