My 3 year old son loves Thomas the Tank Engine. I had a very hard time finding anything as far as party supplies in Canada.
I did eventually find napkins and this began our train ride. I made up my own invitations to look like a train boarding pass. I printed it on blue paper. It said... All Aboard the Birthday Train We're going to _______3rd Birthday Party ______________(last name) Station Track # (Address) Day and Time RSVP Train Master with ph# I then mounted the invites on red paper. My color scheme was red, blue, black and yellow! The Thomas colors! I then made a sign to hang from the roof like a station sign the read ___________(last name ) Station Track #____(house Address) Now Boarding. I was then going to have helium balloons outside. But it was raining and windy. So I had them as soon as you came in the door. Once you got into the house I had painted several train signs and had them all over the walls. (Railway Crossing, Kids crossing, Stop sign, Light Signal, and including a Frazzled parent crossing) Looked Great. I then made a train track, using masking tape and brown wrapping paper. This looked excellent and the kids loved it, they were all playing trains on the tracks. I had the tracks leading to the food tables and to the washrooms. I had different signs on the tracks like end of the line....I had balloons all over in blue, red, and yellow. For games I again made posters of Thomas and James. I then cut Thomas's face out and taped him onto a large box and then taped his face back onto the inside of the box. Thus making a bean bag toss through Thomas. A hit! If you don't have bean bags, put some beans into an old clean pair of knee high stocking. I then made another poster of James and then painted up allot of bee's and we had pin the bee on James nose. I blind folded the kids. I used poster putty on the back of the bee's and then you did not have to use pins. As I had children ranging from 4months to 6 years. It was a blast! As well the games acted like decorations. My Husband then made me up 2 CD's of Thomas stories and music and we had them playing both upstairs and down! I made a Thomas cake. I bought the Thomas Cake pan and I served ice cream with that. In the children's gift bags. I made up coloring books of Thomas and the other engines and different games. I put non toxic crayons in. Stamps and stickers with trains on them. I also made up a craft for them to do when they got home. It was a fridge magnet of either Thomas, James of Percy. I had a total of 30 people and it was excellent! I wonder what next year will bring!
