For my son's 8th birthday party we had a tye dye 60's party. I printed invitations out on tye dye paper. We decorated our back porch and kitchen area in 60's decor. I printed out peace signs, flowers & smiley faces. We also used tye dye looking baloons. I has tye dyed a white sheet the week before and used it for the table cloth. Tye Dyed pillow cases were slipped over the backs of chairs, this made a wonderful effect. I has purchased a t-shirt for all the party goers. We tye Dyed the t-shirts outside in the back yard while 60's kids music was playing. Then we came inside to our large kitchen counter. Each child choose 2 colors of moulding clay. I gave them a small piece of each & they were instructed to roll them like play dough & make a snake. Then a white piece was done in the same maner. The three snake rolls were then twisted together then rolled into balls. When you flatten the ball it looks like it's tye dye. We cut a t-shirt shape out of the dough, and baked it according to directions. After the tiny shirts cooled I wrote each childs name with a felt marker, and added a magnetic strip to the back to use it as a magnet. The kids loved this!  Skittles, M & M's and rainbow gummy worms were in bowls all over the porch. I made tye dye ice cream by letting vanilla ice cream melt a tad, then added red, line, yellow & berry blue gelitan. Swilling a bit & it looks like it's tye dyed. put back into the freezer to harden up again. I also made a tye dye shirt cake. I mixed a white cake as directed & added colored sprinkles. Poured into a rectangular cake pan. After you bake & it cools, cut 1/3 of the cake off & set aside. The remaining 2/3's are the shirt. Cut a 1/2 circle to make the neck. cut the other 1/3 in 1/2, this is the sleves. Put together & add white icing. I then sprayed color decorating spray in blue, yellow and red to look like a tye dyed shirt. I had found retro looking square paper plates & napkins. I also added zig-zag candles.  Everyone went home with a shirt a magnet & a smiley face pin.
