We made fairy wings for all the girls for my daughters Tinkerbell birthday party! They were simple, but a lot of fun to make. This is how we did it! You will need:
*Regular poster-board (you can get different colors to make it fun like lime green, pink, purple), *Glue glitter (less of a glitter mess, specially for the little ones), *jewelry gems, foams shapes, stickers (you can get a bunch in oriental trading)and *pretty ribbon (or you can use elastic, but flowery chiffon ribbon is a lot cutter) A couple days before the party I pre-cut everything so the kids can just decorate! First you cut the poster board in half, to make it into 2 pieces of 14x22(you can make 2 sets of wings out of 1 poster-board). Fold each piece in half and with a pencil draw one half of the wings, just like how you cut out hearts!(like one half of a butterfly, if you need a example of this you can email me and I'll send you one) Then you cut it, make sure you don't cut the folded part. Now when you unfold it you got wings! Now just fold it again and with a hole puncher, punch like 1 to 1-1/2 inch away from the folden part. Do 2 Punch holes like 4 inches a part, this is were the ribbon is going to go, so it is used as the straps. Then unfold the wings, now put in the ribbon into one hole and out through the hole on the bottom. Do the same on the other wing. Tie each ribbon(strap) into a pretty bow. Now you got wings! Its super easy and very unexpensive! (tip: you can use one wings to trace the others so you wont have to free hand draw it again) Now comes the best part!!!Have all the girls decorate them with the glitter, tinker bell stickers, foam stickers, gems, etc. I dont recomend paint, it could be heavy on the poster board and messy and takes time to dry, plus after decorating their wings they just want to put them on and fly away! hehehe! This activity craft was a success! and its great for all ages even the adults were into it! We even had a 1 year old decorate her wings, of course she got glitter all over her, but it was the cutest thing ever!
