Tinkerbell & Hook - Fairy Plant in Pot

Oct 2002

Lori in Ormond Beach, FL USA

For my daughter's 5th birthday she wanted a Tinkerbell & Capt. Hook party.  We made invitations featuring a picture of Tink that I downloaded and printed onto cardstock that came with a decorative boarder.  We printed all the party info on a sheet of vellum paper, and attached it with ribbon to the cardstock.  The invites were cute and very inexpensive. We decorated with some tinkerbell banners purchased from a party store, homemade Tink & Hook posters, and lots of balloons.  We put up tent and called it the lost boys hideout, and we rented a moonwalk. We played three games. The first was walk under the plank( Limbo). The second game was freeze dance. When the music stopped, my son shouted out a Peter Pan character, and the kids had to do their best pose of that character. The last game was an obstacle course.  We told the kids that they were running from hook. They especially loved the course, and continued to do it even after the offical game was finished. As a craft, I had intended to decorate cardboard treasure chests, and then fill them with the goody bags, but my daughter really wanted to plant flowers. So, I purchases tarra cotta pots, spray painted them white, and then let the kids decorate them with stickers, stick-on earrings, and markers.  When they were finished decorating, the kids planted their own plants.  This seemed to be their favorite time of the day. For food, we only had cake and ice cream. After the gifts were opened, my daughter gave out awards to the "winners" of each game. The awards were magic wands, crowns, a tinkerbell necklace, candy and nail polish for the girls, and a pirate hat, sword, eye patch, rock ball, candy, and gold coins for the boys. All the kids seemed to have a great time, and my daughter loved her special day.
