My son was very much into watching Toy Story so we decided to have a Toy Story/Buzz Lightyear party for his 4th birthday.
Basic things were purchased from Factory Card Outlet- a happy birthday banner, goody bags, buzz lightyear party favors, plates, napkins, and cups. I did not purchase invitations but instead decided to make them myself. The invitation said: Calling All Space Rangers!! This is star command. Buzz Lightyear & Space Ranger Ben request your attendance! Mission: Join Team Lighyear for Ben's 4th Birthday Star Date: Saturday IA RSVP to Star Command: 123-456-7890." I printed out a picture of Buzz along with the party information on white cardstock and then glued it to a piece of green cardstock that framed the invitation. I had cut out another picture of Buzz (one of Buzz flying) and attached it to the green side of the invitation using puffy foam pieces so it looked 3D. Above Buzz it said- "You're Invited..." and underneath Buzz it said- "To Infinity & Beyond!" Everyone thought they were very creative. As a party favor I printed off pictures for the kids to color and turned them into coloring books. I printed the pages off from www.coloring-book.info/coloring/coloring_page.php?id=70. I found a color picture of Buzz Lightyear and used it to make the cover. It said - "This was made especially for you! Thanks for coming to Ben's 4th Birthday Party!". We also played a bean bag toss game that my husband and I made. I bought a plain white plastic table cloth for a dollar folded it in half and then made a bullseye/target using blue plainting tape. (the painting tape was easy to move and didn't rip the table cloth) I printed off pictures of Buzz Mr. Potato Head and Woody - laminated them and then taped them to the target. Buzz was in the bullseye and was worth 50 pts Mr. Potato Head was in the next ring and was worth 25 pts and Woody was in the outside ring and was worth 10 pts. I bought toy story fabric and beans and made bean bags. Those were used to throw at the target to earn points. The children with the most points won a prize. We also did a craft using foam visors. Each child got a foam visor (green for boys and purple for girls) and then were allowed to decorate them with foam letters (to spell their name or Buzz) and glow in the dark stars and Buzz Lightyear stickers. For decorations we put up the Happy Birthday banner which was then surrounded by blue and green swirls that were hung from the ceiling using push pins. There were also blue and green balloons that were strewn about everywhere. Party snacks included mini milky way candy bars and regular sized hershey candy bars covered with a home-made Buzz Lightyear candy bar wrapper. The candy bar wrapper said- Happy 4th Birthday Ben! April 22 2008 - it also had a picture of Buzz Lightyear. Each child also received a goody bag that included Buzz Lightyear stickers Buzz Lightyear party favors candy and other trinkets. To get their goody bags they had to do a scavenger hunt following clues on laminated cards from Buzz Lightyear. Their final clue said to find the goody bags before Zurg destroyed them and the galaxy would be lost. Next we had cake. We didn't want a plain cake with just the edible image so we called around and found a place that had the Buzz Lightyear and Zurg figures to be used on the cake. The cake ended up being very colorful and said Happy 4th Birthday Ben!. The party was a great sucess!"
