WOODY'S ROUNDUP PARTY (from Toy Story 2) For 4-year-old girl (or boy)  My daughter is addicted to Toy Story 2 and loves the Roundup Gang in particular. For her birthday she wanted a Woody's Roundup party. INVITATIONS Made on my computer On the front was a picture of Jessie, Woody and Bullseye that I found online I used a Western-type font to write: Hey Howdy Hey The inside featured a picture of Jessie with the party information Both pictures were meant to be colored by the kids ACTIVITIES Coloring When the kids arrived I had pictures of the Roundup Gang that I got off the internet for them to color to keep them busy until everyone arrived. But any craft-type activity would work here. Digging for Gold Next we moved outside to the deck where we had filled a plastic baby pool with sand, "gold" and regular rocks. A picture of Prospector was posted at this activity. Days before the party my two kids had found rocks and helped paint a bunch of them gold. (This was a fun activity for them, and a way for them to help out.) At the party, each child was given a shovel or rake and a pan (a foil pie pan from the grocery store) to dig for the gold. They loved this activity and spent a lot of time out there. You should have seen their reactions when they found gold. They were thrilled. Some of the kids even liked the regular rocks. This activity would work in a regular sandbox too. We had hay bales on the deck for the parents to sit on.  Hay ride Next we took the kids on a hay ride around the yard. My husband has a lawn tractor with a trailor that we filled with hay where the kids sat. This was also a big hit. Horse racing We raced with Bullseye stick horses. The day before the party I cut the horsehead shape out of cardboard and penciled in the lines and my kids decorated them to look like Bullseye. We attached the heads to the cardboard tube you find in wrapping paper. At the party the kids formed two teams and galloped with their horses up and back and then handed off to the next person. Horseshoes I just happened to have a little tykes horseshoe set so the kids played horseshoes. We had a picture of Bullseye posted at this activity.  Pinata I found one shaped like a cowboy boot at a party store.  Balloon Dancing This was in case we had extra time to fill, which we didn't. But the plan was to play the Woody's Roundup cd and let the kids dance while keeping balloons aloft.  FOOD Cake Shaped like a cowboy hat with a plastic Woody figurine on top. I used a round  pan for the brim (larger than a regular cake round) and a pyrex measuring cup to form the top. I used chocolate frosting to make it brown, like Woody's hat. Ice Cream The center piece of the table was my daughter's Woody, Jessie and Bullseye dolls. PARTY FAVORS Cowboy hats (from Oriental trading) Bandanas (from Oriental trading) Horse stickers Sheriff badge (from dollar store) Pinata candy Balloon "Gold" This was an inexpensive party to put on and my kids (6 and 4)loved being involved with the party preparations. And a week later they still love going out to bury the "gold" and dig it up again.
