For my son's 4th birthday we had a Buzz Lightyear party. We used a Disney print studio software package to make invitations with a picture of Buzz and the Little Green Men (LGM's) that said, "Blast off with Buzz to celebrate Will's 4th Birthday."  They invited friends to "Help save the galaxy while enjoying pizza, goodies and games.", and stated that the party would be at "Star Command Academy aka Will's house". We purchased Buzz party supplies, table clothes and coordinating streamers and balloons for decorations. We used sidewalk chalk to write a happy birthday message on the driveway drew a picture of a rocket with an LGM looking out the window.  We set up the party tables on our enclosed backporch and put the games outside. Above the door to the porch we hung a sign that said "Welcome to Star Command Academy". We borrowed kid-sized tables and chairs from our church and used several of my son's Buzz toys to decorate the main table.  His large Buzz with helium balloons attached was a great centerpiece.  We enlarged a picture of my son with Buzz (from last year's Disney trip) and used it to decorate the gift table. My husband set up the theme from "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command" sung by William Shatner to play in a loop as the guest came in. When the kid's arrived they went to a kid-sized table to make a Buzz Lightyear toliet paper roll craft.  They I gathered them together and told them that I was not only Will's mom, I was a recruiter for Star Command and that they were being recruited to become space rangers and defend the Galactic Alliance against Zurg's latest diabolical plot.  We then took them outside to go through their "training".  First they had to learn who the "bad guy" was. We had a bowling game where they knocked down pins with pictures of Zurg attached.  Then with played hot potato with a small Zurg toy and used the Buzz theme again. Then they had to learn who Buzz's friends were.  I painted a picture of Booster (from Buzz Lightyear of Star Command) on a large cardboard box and cut out the mouth. The kids threw in ball's to feed the ever-hungry Booster. Then the had to learn how to do space research by finding space rocks (golf balls covered with alluminum foil) that had been hidden around the yard. Then it was time to learn how to use the ranger equipment. As I demonstrated the use of a Buzz Lightyear walkie-talkie, the voice of the Evil Emperor Zurg himself broke in.  Then Zurg (my husband wearing a homemade Zurg Mask and cape) came running around the corner and past the kids. We handed out lasergun water pistols and the kids chased him down and blasted him.  After that we had a graduation ceremony where they each received a diploma with a picture of Buzz stating that they were now official space rangers (made from print package). We then had pizza, blue punch and a cool Buzz cake. Afterward we had a Buzz pinata and opened presents. Goody bags included Buzz stickers, Buzz gummies, glow-in-the-dark space aliens etc.  The kids had a great time.
