When asked what type of party my 3 year old wanted, he enthusiastically screamed "Buzz Lightyear".
Unfortunately, Toy Story items were no where to be found, so I became a bit more 'generic' (read- creative). We focused on the space theme. The invitations were white card stock. On the front, I cut out a star shape of glittery star fabric and outlined it in gold and silver puffy paint. The inside had a digital photo of my son in a motorcycle helmet from daycare (it resembled an astronauts' helmet enough). I hand wrote "to infinity and beyond" on the front and had the information about 'blast off time' and 'launch pad location' on the inside. Guests were invited to Space Ranger Training at our home. I used the same star and planet fabric (right off the bolt) for the table cloth... I can reuse it for something else later since it's cotton washable and not hemmed. We also used silver star giftwrap ribbon for decoration around the dining room chandelier. I had made a pinata shaped like a space ship and had water gun 'blasters' for a game of water gun tag, but due to a freak snow storm in May, we were forced inside and I opted not to break those items out (the kids didn't seem to notice). We also were going to have a 'space rock' hunt (silver spray painted rocks hidden in the backyard). The rocks were put out the night before... and now under the snow, so we couldn't bring it inside... For food, we ate 'space dogs' and 'space fries' with green (alien) ketchup and broke into the CraterCake. For the cake, I used a Buhnt Cake Pan (with the hole in the middle) and filled the hole with butterscotch pudding. We used star shaped candles (leftover from the 4th of july). For goodie bags, the kids took home plastic pails and snovels (with their names in silver pen), toothbrushes, pencils, star and planet stickers, and Buzz Lightyear fruit snacks.
