Toy Story My husband and I greeted our little guest in army fatigues and clip boards.(We had a detailed list of all that we would do, keeping us organized and making us look official)
Each child was ushered to a table where they made rockets magnets out of craft foam.( I had precut the pieces and the kids glued them together. I also bought a bag of stars and numbers. Each
child choose a number and we were able to tell which rocket belonged to which child) Once they were finished, we instructed them to sit on the floor where we told them they would be referred
to as cadets.(big grins from all the kids.) There first task was to hunt for army men. My husband and I used a side room and hid army men and artillery.(this was a big hit!) Each piece
found was kept and put in the child's party favor box.
Next we had constructed a wood, rock climbing type of wall. We had a rope dangle in the middle, it was optional for the older kids. Each child had to climb up and over the wall, placing there hands and feet on the blocks of wood. And then proceed to the next game. ( An adult was there to help the child cross over the board.) Which we named the slinky dog challenge. I had drawn slinky dog on poster board and cut out the mouth, the kids had to throw real dog bones through the mouth. The next game was the Zurg balloon blaster. We had a big Styrofoam wall to which we blew up yellow and purple balloons. We taped the purple balloons in a huge Z and cushioned the yellow balloons all over the rest of the board till it was filled. The kids threw plastic tipped darts at the balloons. ( I think this was the favorite. The kids lined up to do it again and again.) Next I had made 3 aliens out of Styrofoam and glued colored foam to the top of each for outfits. And another poster board with Sid's dog Scud. I cut his mouth open as well. This time the kids threw aliens in the dogs mouth. (very funny game) I drew Mr. potato head on a piece of poster board. And we played pin the arms on Mr. potato head. I had dumm dumm lollipops on hand to reward the children when they accomplished each game. We had pizza and cake at this party. The party favor boxes I had bought on ebay. They were toy story unused happy meal boxes. Inside were toy story stickers, a small toy story character, and home made cracker boxes. ( I made these using toilet paper rolls and I wrapped them in green tissue paper with purple curling ribbon for the boys, and purple tissue paper with green curling ribbon for the girls.) This party did not cost a lot of money, but I did have to organize my time to get the art work done. It was very rewarding to have such a successful party.
