Train Party: My four year old is a train fanatic so for his birthday we planned at party at the park by the zoo where there is a train (most zoos have trains I think). I used train shaped die
cuts from the teacher supply store (usually 30/pkg) and made labels (I used Avery labels and MS Word) with the party details and labels with the directions. We placed one label on one side
and one on the other. You can make about 30 invitations for less than $5.00 this way and you do not have to write them all out. We arrived early at the park to claim tables and I brought
picnic blankets so the kids could sit down on the ground all together. As the guest arrived we greeted them with a train engineer's hat (ordered from Party express), whistles from
Friendsjunction.com (1.99 each), and bandana's from Wal-Mart (2 per pkg.). This way we marked all the children with us in the same hat and bandana so we could keep up with everyone. I brought
an outdoor bell to ring for the activities. I made PB&J - using a train cookie cutter and set up an platter as train track (using string licorice and stick pretzels- Birthday-express.com
idea) and plenty of other food for the adults. I used individual bags of chips from Sam's which worked out great too. The adults appreciated me having them food too. I used train shaped pasta
for a pasta salad.
I had a train piņata (I made into a pull string one (I am not fond of watching kids beat something to death)). Train shaped cake (Wilton pan - I had someone else make). We all chug chug chugged over to the train with our own little train and rode on it and chugged back. Everyone still compliments the party and everyone went home tired in time to nap.
