Transformers Party

My 8-year-old son decided a while ago that he wanted to have a Transformer theme for his birthday.  He also wanted to do his first ever slumber party.

We kept the invitation list small and utilized pre-printed Transformer invitations that came with the thank you postcards as well.  We had planned on going to a local miniature golf course for the main activity.  My party schedule was planned as follows: 3:00 - 5:00 Mini Golf 5:00 - 5:30 Optimus Prime Pinata 5:30 - 6:30 Make-Your-Own-Pizza Dinner 6:30 - 7:00 Watch Animated Transformer episodes 7:00 - 7:30 Activities 7:30 - 8:00 Cake 8:00 - 8:30 Presents 8:30 - 9:00 Another Animated Transformer episode 9:00 - 9:30 Settle down / Bedtime

The activities that I had planned were to first do our Optimus Prime Pinata, which I found at Walmart but can be found at most stores that carry Transformer party supplies.  Then, I designed and printed in color a Name That Transformer" activity sheet.

Next we had a Transformers Transformation Race and finally we played Transformer RAMBO (a Transformer adaptation of BINGO).  I found most of the images that I used on The Hub TV Network Transformer Prime web site which has some really great images all at similar resolution and size. I used these images when I made the Name That Transformer activity sheet and for my BINGO adaptation entitled RAMBO(Ratchet Arcee Megatron Bumblebee Optimus).

For the Name that Transformer Activity Sheet we had a total of 10 characters for which the children had to guess the character names.  I awarded a prize to the child that got the most correct.  Before we did this activity I had the children watch one episode of Transformer Prime in case they hadn't seen the show and so that everyone would be familiar with how this particular show depicts each character.

Then using inexpensive smaller transformer toys that I found for less than $5 at Target the kids had a race to see who could transform their Transformer from their Autobot/Decepticon forms to their vehicle forms the fastest.  Obviously I awarded a prize to the child who did finished first.

We played our BINGO adaptation entitled RAMBO.  If we needed to we could have played this activity a second time but by that time the kids just wanted to play for a little while and I needed to set up for the Make-Your-Own-Pizza Dinner.  The rest of the party schedule proceeded as planned.

For the party bags I purchased the Transformer Party Pack which had a little top a tiny throwing saucer a miniature pinball game a printed maze and some stickers.  I supplemented the bags with a blue light-up yo-yo some blue bubbles and a squirt toy.  My son and the children that came had a great time so all in all I would call this birthday party a success."
