Western Party - 5 year old For my son's 5th Birthday we did a western party since he loves dressing like a cowboy. I got him a vintage cowboy coat mint at a yardsale from the 50s, and leather boots on ebay for him and his brother. His brother got a vintgage chap and vest set from the 50's and his 2 year old sister a pink cowgirl outfit and white leather boot from ebay. They looked adorable. For invitations I did a wanted poster...Wanted Outlaw Angus for gettin to old..last seen ridin with the Port Medway Gang..then I gave each kid invited a western name.ie Moonshine Morgan..Howdy Partners, we be needin' you towns people buckaroos to help celebrate Outlaw Angus's 5th birthday. Y'all get ready fer the hoe down at the Stevens Ranch on the 13th of august at 3:00. So jump on yer horse abd mosey on over fer some tasty grub and boot stompin fun! Give us a Yee Haw if you can make it or a Dag-na-bit if you can't at XXXXXX.When the kids arrrived they each got a bandana and a black wesern hat.ACTIVITIES: we had a Pony that came and gave rides...then we played games..I found a 1950's original game of pin the pistol on the cowboy,then rattlesnake pass(hot potato), a shootin gallery with pop cans and a toy rifle, watermelon seed spittin contest, there's  snake in my boot( drop small rubber snakes in a cowboy boot while standin on a bale of hay),a pinata, and the favorite was gold nugget find..I painted hundreds os rocks gold and scattered them through part of our back yard that had been recently excavated so it was all ground and rocks. They were given small sacks made out of bandans(1 bandana makes 4) to collect them.. whoever found the most won and they each got chocolate money for them. We had a campfire and had hotdogs, BBQ chips and rootbeer and watermelon. The cake my baker made a cowboy cake,served on checkered plates.. For decorations I had checkered table cloth a cactus balloon and many yellow and green balloons.  I had a sign over the food tabel saying waterin Hole, We made a  huge jail out of two carboard boxes that playgroudn equipment came in. put them together with wooden lathes and painted red and wrote on it Port Jail,NO GUNS...This was a big hit.. there was other sign saying NO chewin or spittin.  Out front I put up  a huge sign saying STEVENS Ranch. For prizes we had packages of Cowboys and Indians, Bows adn Arrow sets and western dolls and stickers.. For treat bags I took a bandana and put sherrif stars, twix bars, licorace, Jolly ranchers, etc.. and tied it up on a pole to throw over their shoulder. Thsi party was alot of work and cost about $400 but the 14 kids had a yee haw of time and will never forget it...worth every cent...
