Party Supplies

My son loves cowboys.  For his fourth birthday we had a party at the "ranch." The invitations had four cut-outs on the front, a guitar, a hat, a boot, and a cactus and was had Howdy Partner written diagonally. I used cardstock to make them, but used yellowed paper on the inside with the party information. I burned the edges of the inner paper to make it look old. It said, "Sheriff Tucker is turning Four." and contained the other information. We made signs out of brown wrapping (mailing)paper and painted the letters in a ranch-style writing.  We labeled the areas at the party as watering hole, grub, shooting gallery, pony rides, calf roping, T & G Ranch, and of course, Happy 4th, Tucker. We put out bales of straw around the yard and picnic tables. We had a barn made out of a big box for them to play in. The kids had several activities to do when they got there. They got to make a patriotic door hanger (since his birthday is July 5th). We took their picture on the pony and I used that for the thank you cards that I mailed out. When they got there I had a bandana, hat, and deputy's badge for them to wear. Each child got a different color bandana to wear. We played "Sheriff Tucker Says" (like Simon Says) and had a pinata.  For food, we labeled each item with different quirky names like Tucker Fried Chicken, Tammy's potato salad (some close friend's made stuff or I used their recipe so we gave them credit!)  We served homemade chocolates shaped in horses and stars and sugar cookie horses and stars.  The tables were decorated with little bales of straw and bandanas. I got pictures from all the guests attending the party and made wanted posters in old time paper and put them around the kitchen. Each child/family was able to take them home.  I made up names for the kids and goofy crimes that related to them specifically. For instance, "The Jackson Four" wanted for riding their bikes into the road without looking. The goody bags were made out of bandana material.  They were drawstring bags with a different colored bandana material patch shaped like a star on the front.  I put horse/cowboy stickers, cowtails, pencils, pads of paper, and patriotic themed stuff in the bags. The bags were in a giant metal tub filled with straw. The sign over the tub said, "Loot."  We attached thank you cards to the outside of the bags in the shape of a star.  They said, "Colby,  Thanks for coming to my party.  I hope you enjoy your surprises.  Love, Tucker."  I had a lot of help and wrote a thank you letter that I posted the day of the party to let everyone know that I appreciated the help. All the kids and the adults had a great time.
