My son loves his Birthday, therefore I try very hard to make it special for him. This year for his fourth birthday, he Chose a Western Theme. We rented our community center, it looks like a rustic log cabin, and has a lot of room inside and out for plenty of play. Outside I had a sign that read E-Bops rodeo round up. (ethan's nickname is E_boP)  Lined up against the wall on the side of the porch we had a row of Stick horses.  I made them from burlap, dowels, yarn and other craft materials). The inside was decorated with hay bales, wagon wheels, cactus standups etc. The tables were decorated with read plastic clothes, with Burlap overlays. Arrangements made from mini hay bales, mini cowboy hads and floag adorned the tables.  We had a registration table, as each parent registered there child for the rodeo they were asked to leave their email address, so pictures could be emailed. At registration each child was given a list of events, a cowboy had, bandanna and sheriff's badges with their names on them. WE had pony rides, and each child's picture was taken on the pony. We also had stick horse races. Each child chose a stick horse from the coral on the porch. They raced the horse, and it was theirs to keep.  Other activities, that were set up around the room, included, horse shoes, stack the sticks on the donkey, western bean bag toss, and make a picture frame.  It was a very hot day so drinks were available from galvanized Tin tubs, in different locations inside and out. Food was served through a window from the kitchen. Hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, salsa, etc.  When it was time to open presents we played rattle snake rustle. As music played the children passed around a stuffed snake. When the music stopped, the child who had the snake would give their present to Ethan.  He in turn would hand them a galvanized tin bucket of goodies. I used window decals to put Ethan's birthday round up and the date on each child's bucket. I filed the buckets with rafetta, and used twin to tie cow colored cowbells and plastic boots to the handle. (they were really cute). Inside I put candy, bendable cowboys and Indians, handcuffs, and party blow outs. Each child went home with a bucket of goodies, a horse, a cowboy had, a badge, and a bandanna. A lot of the badges were seen in church the next day.  Everyone had a good time.  Especially Ethan. As each child left, they were given one last pony ride.  Ethan is already asking questions about his next party.
