I made an invitation that said Wanted all Cowboys and Cowgirls For a Rodeo at the O.K. corral. I mentioned the activities and said entries must be received by (date you want them to RSVP) I made stick horses out of PVC and socks. I glued yarn on for the mane, added wiggle eyes, and used felt for the nostrils, blazes and ears. For the ears I cut slits in the socks and glued them inside and then stuck the ears through the slits and glued it shut. I used a thin cord for the bridle. I used a hot glue gun for all the gluing. It has been 6 months and my son's still looks fine! I put lots of pennies, shells ,marbles etc. a sandbox and when the kids arrived they started goldpaning. They had to get enough pennies to buy the horses. I named the horses and had them draw the names out of a hat so there would be no fighting. They also had to buy there hats, bandanas and spurs. The hats and bandanas I bought at Oriental Trading. The spurs were made out of cardboard and drinking straws painted silver. They also bought a papersack vest. I had a table with markers etc.. so they could decorate there own vest. We sang the National Anthem then did polebending (PVC pipe stuck in wood blocks)barrel racing, and calf roping(a bicycle covered with sacks, a tail, and a cardboard face. We used a karaoke machine and my mom was the announcer. We had face painting.  We played bit by a rattlesnake to Home on the range. You pass around a snake made out of a sock with a film canister full of beans so it rattles and whoever is holding it when the music stops is bit and is out. I prerecorded the song with the stops so I didn't have to worry about stopping it during the game. I gave the bit kids plastic snakes so there was no hard feelings. I served chili & cornbread. All the kids got a cupcake with a plastic horse. We awarded them a 1st place ribbon in a different category such as Fastest cowboy, best dressed etc. As they came up to get their ribbon I gave them their "winnings" Stickers, Chocolate coins etc. The Rodeo lasted three hours but everyone had a great time Parents included. My son has some great pictures to remember it! I spent around $50.00 but I did invest a lot of time. I also didn't waste money on decorations. I bought primary colored balloons, plates etc at the dollar store. I made my own signs such as strike it rich, Get your duds here and welcome to the O.K. corral. My son was three and the kids ranged from 3-8
