We just celebrated my daughter's 2nd birthday and it was a blast. She just loves horses so we decided to go with a western theme. Our house is very small and our guest list was a
little large so we planned the party outside with a rain date just in case.
We had bales of hay scattered around in the backyard and country music playing to give it a western feel. I ordered western theme plates, napkins, balloons and other supplies through BirthdayExpress.com. Our local baker made a cake to match the partyware. My husband and I both dressed up in western attire and all the children received cowboy hats and bandanas when they arrived. I tried to keep the food with the theme as well. We had KFC, chili, hotdogs, cornbread, and salads. The children ate hotdogs chili and chips on tin pie plates in the backyard. Towards the end of our meal, the ponies arrived! About a month prior to the party I arranged for a local farm to bring one small pony and one large pony to the house for one hour of rides. We had about nine children ranging from ages 1 to 12 so this worked out well for all. Even some of the adults rode on the large pony! Next we headed inside for cake and ice-cream. Pop-pop played "Happy Birthday" on his harmonica while we all sang. After cake and ice-cream, my daughter opened her gifts and handed out the loot bags. These were ordered through Birthday Express as well and came with a few theme prizes. I added a few extras which included chocolate golden nuggets candy and a harmonica for each child. While we were inside, a few of the adults stayed outside and hung the horse piņata. This was a lot of fun for all the different ages as well. We played one other game where all the children had a balloon tied to their ankles and tried to pop each others balloon without letting their own get popped. I handed out a prize to the winner and then a prize to the "runner-ups" in the ordered that they remained in the game. All the children went home with their cowboy hats, bandanas and loot prizes and some special western memories too!
