Snow Fairy Party - For my daughter's 6th birthday we wanted to do a snowflake themed party, and she suggested incorporateing the fairy. It was an all-girl party.
The invitations were made from navy cardstock, stamped with silver snowflakes. A vellum overlay included the invitation wording, and we tied them together with a silver ribbon. We started out with snow fairy wands that the kids decorated. I bought wooden snowflake cutouts from Michael's and glued them in advance to wooden dowels. They decorated the snowflakes with paint pens, three-dimensional snow paint, and gems. We attached ribbons using a glue gun. We played "find the matching snowflake". In advance, I had printed out three copies of different snowflake patterns (one pattern for each girl). One snowflake went into a paper bag, and the other two were hidden in the house, and they had to find the other two flakes. We also had a snowflake craft that I had bought from Oriental Trading, where they decorated a snowflake ornament. When it was time to wrap things up, we played a version of "hot potato" but called it "cold snowflake" where they passed a snowflake until the music stopped. The person who was 'out' got their goody bag and waited on their parents. By doing this, everyone was a 'winner'. We had snow themed music (I had made a CD through iTunes). Decorations included snowflake window clings (we have lots of glass in our family room), blue silver and white balloons, and a few snowflake mylar balloons. The cake was choclate (her request) with snowflake decos. We had sandwiches cut into snowflake shapes, and cheese (cut into snowflake shapes) and crackers. Favors were mainly from Oriental Trading (do a search for "snowflake"), but I also gave the girls a copy of the book "Crystal the Snow Fairy" which I purchased from Borders.
