My son's birthday is in the winter. He never gets to do a fun pool party or BBQ for his Birthday so I was going to have a "Summertime in Winter" themed party for him. For
the invitations, I'm printing my own using the computer. I'm going to have "Summertime..." on the front with pictures of summertime cliparts and when you open the card, you
will see "...In the Winter" and all the details of the party along with cliparts of winter like snowmen and mittens.
I'm having it at an ice cream parlor nearby (It just happens that the ice cream parlor has a little party room with an ice cream cone slide). I was going to decorate it using some luau tissue palm trees and other summer decorations from birthdayexpress. For activities, I'm buying white tank tops and the kids can decorate using fabric paint and T-shirt transfer supplies I bought at a local crafts store. The kids are also playing duck duck goose and other fun children's' games. Prizes for winners are going to be gift certificates to the ice cream parlor. While the tank tops dry, I'm having picnic baskets filled all sorts of sandwiches, potato salad, juice boxes, chips...all sorts of summertime goodie picnic favorites set out on a table! I'm also placing gingham tablecloths out on the floor to simulate a picnic atmosphere where they can eat. After they finish with their lunches, I'm having the ice cream parlor set out all of my son's favorite flavors and all the condiments they need for a terrific banana split...build your own! Each child will be sent home with their tank tops and a book of ideas for what to do with the summer coming up that I printed off myself (I printed off pages from the local zoo, amusement park, aquarium, local festivals and events in the summer months and a summer reading list from the library from the web along with any coupons they offer there and punched two holes up top and tied the pages together using ribbon in our theme colors which were sunshine yellow and sky blue!
