For my daughter's first birthday we did a Winter "One"derland theme.
She was born in December and I used snowmen and snowflakes as my decorations. I found some Christmas Cards that had three snowflakes on the front and the middle snowflake was cut out so you could see through to the inside of the card. I printed out the inside of the invitation and glued it over the pre-printed message inside the card. From the outside of the invitation, you saw three snowflakes with the word "One" showing through the middle flake. When you opened the invitation it read "It's a Winter "One"derland B-r-r-rthday party in honor of Hailey turning one. I hung snowflakes from the ceiling and a big Snowman hanging on the wall with a sign that said "Happy B-r-r-rthday!" I gave all the guests a snowman ornament with a picture of the birthday girl (Oriental Trading). I decorated the table with a snowman tablecloth and snowflake confetti. I served a cheese ball that I shaped into a snowman with a small cake mold. I used the snowflake shaped ritz crackers for the cheese. I made two small snowmen cakes from the mold and used them to decorate the top of a sheet cake. I actually stood them up on the cake using straws as a support. I wrote Happy First B-r-r-rthday on the cake. It was a great party and I even passed on all my decorations to a friend whose child was also celebrating a one year winter birthday.
